Audible: Projecting the 2013 Offensive Line

Rex Ryan, Nick Mangold

With just a few weeks left until the start of training camp, we want to hear what you think about the team, top to bottom. Who are you expecting to take on a big role for the group? Who’s the sleeper?  Who’s set for a decline in production?  Who’s unlikely to make the team?

Next up, the offensive line …

Long a strength of the Jets, the group didn’t perform so well as a whole last year in part because the running back play from Shonn Greene was lackluster and then the quarterback play was so bad.  From a pass protection standpoint, the Jets were dinged as a group after Greg  McElroy’s start in which he was concussed and sacked far too many times.  While the group loses both guard from a year ago, the team signed two veterans who could start in Willie Colon and Stephen Peterman and then drafted Brian Winters, Oday Aboushi and Will Campbell who will flood the depth chart — in a good way.  While the center and tackle spots are settled and look to be in very good hands, who emerges as the starting guards?  Will it be Winters and Colon?  Can Vlad Ducasse remain on the roster through cutdowns?  Can Dennis Landolt and Caleb Shlauderaff hang onto roster spots?  Who will be the team’s backup center?

So, what do you think, how will this group fare?
