While over the last week there were reports that the Eagles were interested in acquiring Darrelle Revis and that Howie Roseman was sharpening his pencil to try and come up with a possible deal, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports this morning that the Eagles are out of any ongoing talks with the Jets.
The Eagles made overtures to the Jets about trading for cornerback Darrelle Revis, according to league sources, but they took themselves out of the running for one of the best defensive players in the NFL. Indications were that Revis was headed to Tampa Bay for several draft picks.
Brian Bassett, theJetsBlog.comMcLane tweeted last night that he thought it was an eventuality that Revis would go to the Bucs, and from his angle it sounds as if whatever he’s hearing is that the compensation was too high for the Eagles’ blood. I like hearing the phrase “several draft picks” in relation to potential compensation for Revis, but we’ll have to see what rounds those picks actually come in should the Jets finalize their deal with the Bucs.
