On Monday, news leaked to The Tennesean that Jared Cook of the Titans has requested a trade. Over at USA Today, an unknown team made overtures to the Titans for their fourth year Tight End, Jared Cook.
At the midway point, however, Cook’s role has been diminished, and there are indications the Titans have received a trade request on behalf of the fourth-year pro. The NFL’s trading deadline is Thursday.
Cook’s agents declined comment. Titans’ officials were not immediately available for comment.
Brian Bassett, theJetsBlog.comLet’s be clear, there’s no indication that it was the Jets who made the offer for Cook and they have a fourth year tight end without a new contract already … but Cook was a physical anomaly during his Combine and in theory would be an interesting addition to a listless Jets offense at a spot that can help in both blocking and in receiving.
Former Gamecock Jared Cook is known as a guy with the right size to play the position and deep speed, but who also came into the league and still has concerns about his blocking and consistency. Even so, Cook is one of the Titans surest targets, so with the Jets losing Jeff Cumberland for a few weeks and a veritable triage unit at the Fullback / Tight End spots this season (Josh Baker on IR, Dedrick Epps on IR, John Conner injured and released) I’m not going to put it past the Jets that they might have put a call into the Titans about Cook.
