Jets should resign both Howard & Colon b/c they have little choice. Howard's a no-brainer and Colon (if healthy) can hold the fort for another year and provides good "tude."

Based on the Draft By Position compilation I did earlier this off-season, 14 OL's were targeted in the first three rounds or to put it another way, it was the most targeted need by far. The second most pressing need indicated by teams was Safety with 9.

On a related topic, Cimini indicated Aboushi and Campbell were not yet ready, but neither were Geno or Winters. If Idzik wanted he could've forced them into starts and then claimed he found 7 out of 7 starters (the entire 2013 class) in the draft. - Not upset. Just indicating how self-serving citing that stat was b/c you can start anyone you want to whether it's warranted or not. - Just keeping it real. Not everything a team's management is 100% credible. Some is just spin.

This Ted Wells report is probably not what the Phins were hoping to wake up to today

To SNY.

Since I cannot say this in the post with the survey, I will say it here. Do not "improve" the content of the site. We all witness and deal with your "improvement" of the comments. And none of us would like you to screw up the rest of the site like you did the commenting feature.

Stop fixing what isn't broke.

Just read that Coples played in a 3 point stance almost 80% of the time.

If Barnes can stay healthy, our pass rush will be much more intense. I remember before he got hurt, the pressure was fierce. When he went down, our dline was doubled teamed more and it slowed the pass rush down. I still think we need to pick up an every down younger olb, but for now, the key to our pass rush is Barnes staying healthy, and Coples to keep growing.

Kinda changing the topic, but after reading the Ivory article I started wondering about Goodson  and what the odds are that he will come bck from the injury and be a productive player to compliment ivory.  Anybody have any thoughts on this?  I liked the little I saw of him

@a57se Good link, but I'll believe the Jets will draft a WR in Round 1 when I see it. They've needed a legit #1 for years now and haven't gotten one. IMO Bray was the last number one we had and was at his peak when we had him. Holmes was best when he had Bray to divide the coverage and when Bray left the wheels started to come off. Unfortunately, Hill was a never was and is one impact-less season from official bust status..

Your Draft By Position compilation was for 2013?

@MarshRandy  Sounds like that line was a bunch of a-holes.  Not surprised Pouncey was involved too - he always seemed like a richard to me.

@MarshRandy

You can't have a guy like Ted Wells' pass judgment on NFL Offensive linemen. Their peers are the folks who should do that, not lawyers and suits.

@jake100  There are a number of good safeties that can be had in the middle rounds of the draft, and think we should nab one in round 4 or 5.  That said, I wouldn't be mad if we made a run at Byrd.

He is called the Cimidiot for a good reason........:)

@DrJonathanReefer  Their "improvements" have nothing to do with the content. BB and Bent (and the rest of the TJB crew) are the content. The content is what got us here. Their "improvements" are infrastructure and are awful. It's all so that chimp Andrew can show his bosses how much more traffic they get!

I wonder if they'll go back to THE PREVIOUS COMMENTING SYSTEM THAT GETS POSTS FLAGGED ON LIVEFYRE once they realize it doesn't generate more traffic, even with them juicing the #'s with Facebook/Twitter posts.

And it'll help me cover Vernon Davis from blowing the top off, when I play my friend (9ERS FAN) in Madden ;)

@jake100 yea, Barnes and Goodson were mirror image signings and both got hurt. Coulda used their speed on both sides of the ball last year

He's always been good in a limited role. But he has his limitations and it's impossible to know if we can rely on him to be available to play. Got to have a backup plan. Then, if he can play for us, all the better.

Brendan

@Bernard Mclaughlin  An ACL injury isn't career-threatening, Goodson will be able to come back from it. The question is whether the team trusts him to make it through a season, or if they decide to draft a replacement.

@Bernard Mclaughlin  He was exciting the short time we had him. He would compliment Ivory very well. That being said, I think his career is up in the air with his injury and arrest.

MarshRandy
MarshRandy

@Bernard Mclaughlin  Ivory's a nice RB to grind down the defense but this offense still needs a quick guy who can catch passes so there'll still be an important role for Goodson or a Goodson type if we choose to take someone in the draft

@a57se NO! It was for 2014 and so far looking good b/c many teams ARE hurting for OL and there's not enough to go around.

@a57se @MarshRandy  What?  Peers are never qualified to judge themselves.  Maybe we should have Wall St investigate its own wrongdoing...oh, wait, that's right, they already do.  How's that working out?

I wouldnt say mirror images in all senses, just the speed part. Aside from injury problems, Goody has other issues to deal with and they are not good.

Johnsbodybyvi Ledo

@Brendan @Bernard Mclaughlin  Gut feeling says he's gone. We can find someone in the draft that can replace him for far less. We can draft a player like De Thomas in the 4th or 5th round to replace Goodson.

@Disgruntled Jets Fan @a57se@MarshRandy

If you don't think someone can relate to you then you don't want them judging your actions.

Ted Wells has hardly anything in common with Incognito, Jerry or Pouncey but he does have more in common with Martin.

A bunch of guys sitting around ragging on each other is typical behavior for I,J and P while in Martins' pre-Dolphins world he probably didn't have that experience in anywhere near as crude a manner. He tried to fit in as he said himself but finally it bothered him too much. It is no surprise Wells would call it harassment as that kind of behavior doesn't exist in his world.

Look, I am not trying to defend moronic behavior but I am not going to give Martin a pass either. I have been around morons like Incognito, Jerry and Pouncey and when they are in a pack, they can be brutal to deal with but that doesn't mean you put your tail between your legs and cry abuse like martin did.

That is what little kids in Jr. HS do when the bigger kids pick on them. Martin is a grown man and should be able to stand up for himself.

That is the part Wells doesn't get either.

a57se
a57se

@MarshRandy @a57se

The Facts are the facts is true enough but 'interpreting' the facts and labelling what is 'harassment'  in the context of an NFL locker room is not something Ted Wells has any familiarity with. Our justice system is about being judged by our Peers.......Ted Wells and Roger Goodell are no more peers of John Jerry, Richie incognito or Pouncey then Rush Limbaugh would be.......

Brendan
Brendan

@MarshRandy Haha, "you can't pass judgement on guys who used racial slurs against an assistant coach...HE'S NOT AN OFFENSIVE LINEMAN, MARSH!"

@Johnsbodybyvi Ledo I'd love to sign McCluster. I've been big on him since his college days. I never considered him as the speed back though. That's a very good idea. Could be a matchup nightmare and having him motion out of the back field to the slot could throw off D's pretty hard. I'm even more onboard for signing him now.

Brendan
Brendan

@Johnsbodybyvi Ledo The fall guy? Puff Daddy never got charged, Goodson did. Very different situations, since a gun was actually used. You can't compare them at all.

One was a gun in a locked glove box in a car that Goodson was riding in for the first time, the other was a gun actually used to shoot at people in a club.

Johnsbodybyvi Ledo
Johnsbodybyvi Ledo

@Brendan @Johnsbodybyvi Ledo  Yeah just like Shyne was the fall guy for Puff....i see his friend being the fall guy for the weapons and crap....a little money being traded under the table for the friend to take all the blame....

Brendan
Brendan

@Joe/Orlando Exactly. They can draft someone and let them battle it out in camp. There's no urgency with making a decision on Goodson.

Joe/Orlando
Joe/Orlando

@Johnsbodybyvi Ledo  Looks like Idzik structured his contract very wisely because there would be significant savings and not a lot of dead money if they cut him in 2014 ($1.3 million savings/$666,667 dead money). But there's no difference if we cut him sooner or later so I don't see why we shouldn't bring him back and see what he can do. If he doesn't recover well (or he screws up again...) they can cut him at that point.

Brendan
Brendan

@Johnsbodybyvi Ledo  Bullets and drugs were not his. He was passed out drunk and the driver was the stupid'/pathetic one. The guy basically renegged on copping to all of that stuff being his, just a scummy dude. It's fair to criticize Goodson for drinking too much and being with someone he didn't really know, but the other stuff? Not fair, imo.

Johnsbodybyvi Ledo
Johnsbodybyvi Ledo

@Brendan @Johnsbodybyvi Ledo  Brendan getting caught with hallow point bullets, drugs, and sleeping in the middle of a highway isn't classified as a struggle...it's down right stupid and pathetic.

Brendan
Brendan

@Johnsbodybyvi Ledo He did say that Idzik gave him a talk about the team having plans for him in the future, too. BB mentioned it in his spreecast, but that could very well be generic GM speak, but if the team is trying to foster that "family" mentality and want to make the Jets a favorable destination for FA's, that'd go a long way in showing vets they're not going to cut you at the first sign of struggle.

Johnsbodybyvi Ledo
Johnsbodybyvi Ledo

@Dave Hohf @Johnsbodybyvi Ledo @Brendan @Bernard Mclaughlin   We could also look at the option of signing Dexter McCluster who can play both rb and wr. We would instantly upgrade the speed of this offense, which is lacking big time....now I don't know how much he's actually worth in the market but 3-4 mill per for a dual threat with speed would make me very interested. Plus he can be used as a return man

Dave Hohf
Dave Hohf

@Johnsbodybyvi Ledo @Brendan@Bernard Mclaughlin I agree. Between his injury and legal problems, I think he's a goner. I think Idzik is the kind of guy that doesn't want a legal issues looming on his team anyway. I liked seeing him play when he actually played, but I think his time is up.
