I was just wondering where Hayden Smith had gone to. Did I miss his cut from the team? After last week's punt block you'd think the jets would have wanted a rugby type player in there. How hard is it to tell him to stand there and don't let anyone through?

Its to bad Hayden didnt stick. I was really hoping he would plus we really need a big TE who can catch and block. Maybe this year we finally draft one...

A knock on Mike Evans is that he doesn't have blazing speed, and that was the reason I didn't want Keenan Allen or Alshon Jeffery and look how that worked out. Seems like there are guys who are just good at playing receiver and there are a few of them to be had in the first round, including Marquis Lee who isn't an athletic freak but is just a very good WR.

I want this team to draft a legit WR so bad it hurts

I wouldn't mind the Jets going WR at all in the 1st round but I prefer Lee. I'm all about getting Geno some weapons (WR, OL, TE) this offseason and letting him develop in year 2. Of all my sports teams I think the Jets are the closest to playing for a chip. Sad as that is.

@Mike DeRosa He was cut from the team before the fourth preseason game.

Lee isn't an athletic freak?

@jaygo I like everything about this plan. I would potentially draft an upside QB with one of the 3rd rounders. Of course free agency can change things up, ya know if we sign ahem cough cough knock on wood someone like Jimmy Graham.

@jaygo Watkins is one of the few players I actually have seen quite a bit of. Long story short: this guy that I hate is a Clemson fan, so I watched the games to accurately trash talk that team (and I'm an old FSU fan, so that added bonus was fun).

I like him. I think if the team were to bring Holmes back on a discount, have Watkins, Hill and Kerley they would have a pretty explosive top-4. Two guys who are great route runners, two guys who are highly explosive if they get into open space...I kind of like the idea the more I think about it.

@marshrandy For all his talk, I'm constantly impressed at how much a better pure pass-catcher he is than any other tight end on the roster, and even some receivers. When the ball gets to his hands, it pretty much just sticks in there, nice and smooth. Even some of Geno's hotter throws—no double-clutching, no bobbling, just simply catching. It's kind of remarkable, and gives you a sense at just how talent-poor this offense is.

And I don't necessarily mean that as a knock on the other guys or their effort—just, when healthy, Winslow can be an top-notch talent. And there's not enough guys like him on the roster.

@marshrandy That's been going on since his Miami days.

And if they use anyone besides TJ Ward to cover him, he's probably right.

@juunit He's not overly fast, I think that gives people the impression he's not very athletic.

I dunno Brendan; I am not sold on Hill going forward. While I hope he succeeds (and the coaches said he was a multi year plan); I don't think he has that "intangible" a player his size needs. I keep going back to when Rex said at his presser  this year that he has "the courage"...which usually means that his courage has been questioned.

@r_in_ct It's not really that remarkable, that's what's supposed to happen!  It's more remarkable to me that he's the only one that CAN consistently make clean catches.

@r_in_ct He attacks the ball, and with a receiving roster full of chest-catchers, seeing that is a shock to the system.

I have no clue but I would take Lee over Evans......I wouldn't be surprised if Pittsburgh takes Evans anyway. I just think he would fit perfectly in their offense.

I don't know. And here I was, thinking that his speed and explosive playmaking ability was why he was highly regarded in the first place.

Maybe he's just being confused with Robert Woods in this case?

@Brendan@juunit

Not overly fast according to who? I expect him to run a sub 4.4 40 assuming his knee is good to go. He regularly ran right past deep safeties in college.
