Jets didn’t crack NFL’s most-watched games of 2013

While the Jets are usually good for one or two most watched games, the the Jets were not among the league’s most watched games according to Dom Cosentino of the Star-Ledger.

The league did list the 34 games that were among the 35 most-watched programs this fall. Your New York Jets did not make the cut, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. The Jets only played two primetime games (at Patriots and at Falcons), and they had 10 games at 1 p.m., a time slot that doesn’t lend itself to being seen by a national audience. Coming off a 6-10 season will do that, even to a team in the nation’s largest media market.

Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.com

As Cosentino points out, the Jets only had two prime time games and were kept out of the coveted 4 p.m. slot much of the rest of the season.

After the Tebow/Sanchez run around from two years ago, it was probably a good thing that the Jets could fly under the radar this year. While they aren’t going to become the Cowboys overnight in terms of primetime games, the Jets will likely get a larger shot at primetime glory in 2014.

Jets can be a very bad team to watch, see the blow out loses, they where ugly, they showed signs of improvement finishing 8-8, if they do not load up on talent at the receiver positions, they will not be a fun team to watch again

Cowherd took a shot at Rex today while doing his usual Patriots fan thing. He said two coaches were able to utilize Woodheads talents but not the Jets because Rex isn't a good enough coach.

I was thinking about this and remembered that Rex really liked Woodhead but they just ended up not having a spot for him. I wonder whose decision it was? Has this already been gone over and I missed it or don't remember?

Maybe because there isn't a Circus around anymore?

they seem to do better in the good ol' 1pm slot anyway.

 * I'm too lazy to actually verify this.

@Bigfoo7 He has stated many times he is a fan of Seattle teams(he claims to be a "Sea-chickens" fan). Don't hate on Colin the gawd.

@Bigfoo7 Woodhead had 150 yards rushing in 1 pre season game, if that doesn't tell Rex Woodhead had talent, nothing will

@Bigfoo7 I could be mistaken but he gets a lot of yards from screens and dump offs that Sanchez wasnt very good at. So that could contribute to his lack of production here. Plus we just plain had a bunch of good RBs.

@djf1 28-14 at 1pm under Rex.  6-13 at 4pm.  8-11 other.

@djf1 They certainly do worse in the 4pm spot. Primetime games are a little worse, but not by much, if I recall. But a lot of this has to do with the difficulty of the games. The league isn't going to put a game where the Jets are 90% going to win on national TV, so those games all get put at 1, and we play the Pats on Thursday every year.

@jaym Meh...I love when the Jets play on MNF. Gives me something to look forward to when I get a case of the Mondays

@jaym@Bigfoo7 too late for that, Jets had John Riggins one of the greatest backs of all time and Jets did not bring him back and he went on to have a HOF career with the Skins

@__fense@djf1 well, 4pm games are also more often on the road, so I'd expect them to be somewhat worse.

@__fense @djf1 I am not a fan of the Thurs night game. At least if they play the Pats the travel isn't an issue for either team. Still have no idea how sending them to Denver in 2011 made any sense, especially after playing Sunday night. How was that allowed?
