Cromartie in line for some divine help Sunday?

How can the Jets slow down AJ Green this weekend?  Jets defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman had an idea that he shared with the media this week.

Jets defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman – a former NFL cornerback in the 1970s and 1980s, and the Jets’ defensive backs coach before this season – has an idea about what Cromartie must do to limit Green.

“What does he need to do?” Thurman said, answering this very question. “Put his hands on him and pray, pretty much.”

That’s pretty funny.  But it is a testament to the sort of player that Green has become since being drafted by the Bengals in 2011.  Now in his third year, Green is coming into his own and is on pace to have a career best season.  Cromartie will have his hands full this weekend against one of the league’s best playmakers.

Cromartie has had his moments, but has had inconsistencies this season due to his injuries.  The Jets are going to need to provide some assistance to Cromartie, but the problem then with this offense is it can become a game of “pick your poison.” With Marvin Jones, Gio Bernard, Jermaine Gresham and Tyler Eifert, there are a number of capable options for Dalton to get the ball to … and only one man need be open for the Bengals to keep the chains moving.  Leaving Cro on an island likely won’t work that well, so look for some over the top help from the safeties against Green, but that means the Jets are likely going to give something else up when they do.

Can I get an A-MEN for that Hugh Hefner on high?!?
