With Bart Scott talking to Showtime this week about the lack of playmakers that the Jets had last season, NFL.com’s Marc Sessler discussed it and while some of the criticism was founded, this line was maybe half right.

Still, a lot of that came down to the rough performance in which Greg McElroy was getting sacked repeatedly due to his concussion as well as Mark Sanchez’s season long indecisiveness that caused the protection to break down more often than it should have.
The Jets protection issues had less to do with the personnel and the quarterback play. Austin Howard was pretty good and will most likely start again in 2013, but if anything it is the team’s two pending free agent guards that could cause a circus …
