Audible: Week 15 Early Game Open Thread

week15

Here’s a spot for you to log your reactions to the Week 8 early games that are taking place this afternoon.

Yeesh, what a bunch of stinkers.  Some thoughts we have as a quick look at the early setup today:

  • NE @ MIA — The Patriots are dealing with Life After Gronk and will take on a divisional opponent that even when at their worst can be a bugaboo for the Patriots.  The Jets need the Dolphins to lose this game to stand any postseason chances come Week 17.
  • SEA @ NYG — No one is mistaking the Giants for their playoff contending selves of year’s past, but coming off a tough loss in San Francisco last week, this game will be a litmus test for how good a team Seattle is away from their home field advantage.
  • WSH @ ATL — Talk about the Dirty South.  The only interesting component of this game will be how Kirk Cousins performs in replacement of RG3.  The whole Washington situation is a mess and trying to peel back the layers of the onion won’t be done here.  At the very least, it seems like Washington might be trying to dangle Cousins as tasty trade bait come this offseason.

Leave your thoughts, observations, whatever you like in the comments for the early afternoon games!

Is there a site to watch the Jets game online other than Firstrowsports?

hope Dolphins hold on to beat the Patsies, Pats could get pushed into hosting a WC play off game with no bye or home field advantage if they lose today, and if Cinci keeps winning.

Eli takes the lead in interceptions.

Jets should sign Cutler so he could get paid big money and have no to throw to, and since he is a moody guy he will get peed off by the NY media bothering, it would be a marriage made in heaven.

Wow Reynaud inactive.  Looks like Hakim gets to be the kick returner today.

Cro is active.

Man, Glennon is sooooo good. Such a terrible shame we didn't get him.

Just imagine how much better we'd be if our QB threw for less than 50 yards in a half BUT DID IT WHILE HE WAS 6'6!

Dolphins look as flat as the Jets, when Jets decide to take the week off and not play

Cousins looked pretty sharp on that TD.

I'm watching Golden Tate today - really want us to make a run at him in free agency

@DarrolRayFanClub if we lose today it doesn't matter anyway, realistically.

we screwed ourselves with the bills and phins losses.

@marcus81 Yeah, you should root for the Pats. Miami losses improve Jet playoff hopes.

@juunitsomehow he would stink if we had him, it's just our luck, and our receiving corp does not help. at least he has Vincent fricking Jackson to pass to.

No. Miami is irrelevant to us if we win out (including beating them). We root for then over the pats because that gives the pats more to play for next week against Baltimore.

@a57se @marshrandy you're killin me smalls. I don't like Cousins, I said we will inquire about him if he looks good, which we will. And I think Tate is a very solid receiver, do you think people on these message boards enjoy your constant negativity about literally everything?

Brendan
Brendan

@DarrolRayFanClub It's the most likely game for them to lose, and with the Jets expected to lose I don't see anything wrong with saying the Jets need them to lose today.

Brendan
Brendan

@DarrolRayFanClub Can you explain how the Jets have the tie-breaker in-hand already? That's a legitimate question, I keep hearing it without anyone explaining why.

@a57se

And yet, their offense is no better.

Brendan

@a57se Dude, I just think it's unfair to pull games like that. Either compare their first games, or Geno's complete stats in two games, you can't just pick the worse performance for the argument.

juunit

@a57se@juunit@Brendan@marcus81

No, I don't. It's what you think is more accurate because you like Glennon and you don't like Smith so you'll make any argument possible to fit that.

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se You're back to blind Geno-hate right now, dude.

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se Wouldn't it be more fair to compare both of their first games, not Geno's 2nd game when the defense had already played him once and had re-do on their gameplan?

juunit
juunit

@a57se@juunit@Brendan@marcus81

Why am I not surprised you chose to put up Smith's stats from his second game against the Bills instead of his first?

Because after all, comparing Smith's 2nd appearance against a certain team to Glennon's 1st appearance against that same team is the most accurate way to make a comparison.

Now, let's look at the other team they've both played, the Falcons:

Smith: 16-20, 199, 3 TDs

Glennon: 26-44, 256, 2 TDs, 1 lost fumble

By the way, that's Glennon's first game against the Falcons, just like it was Smiths. Also, Smith won, Glennon lost.

@Brendan@marcus81there's people on here that said they wanted Glennon, Glennon should have sat and learned for a couple years before starting too.

@juunit You ever see the movie Accepted? He looks like the guy who tries to blow sh-- up with his mind.

@a57se@marcus81@Bentno one thought Alex Smith would be this good, and you said you thought Flynn was good, how did you conclude that?

@Bent @a57se Tate plays the #1 role I think, but they brought in Percy to take over that spot with Tate's FA coming up

Bent
Bent

@a57se Seems like Tate would be the other starter, based on those games.  Rice would be the third receiver.  Baldwin and Kearse would be 4 and 5.

Bent
Bent

@a57se Actually, I did a third game and again Rice and Tate started and Baldwin was the number three.

In each of the three games, Tate played exactly eight more snaps than Rice and everyone else played less than Rice, so he was definitely the number one in terms of playing time (with no Harvin).

The three games I did were all before week seven, so things may have changed since ... but I just looked and Kearse has been starting on the outside over the last two games (Baldwin saw more snaps in last week's game, but fewer than Kearse in the one before that).

Bent
Bent

@a57se Sidney Rice and Golden Tate.

Jermaine Kearse got more reps than Baldwin in one of those two games as well (but not the other).

Bent
Bent

@a57se I've charted a few Seahawks games this year and Baldwin is typically the 3rd receiver and spends more time in the slot than anyone else.  I think -rightly or wrongly - Tate has been ahead of him.

marshrandy
marshrandy

@a57se @marshrandy ok that's your opinion. You throw it to Tate and he goes up and gets it, we need a guy like that on the Jets

marshrandy
marshrandy

@a57se I know a thing or two about football. The only receiver that would be ahead of him on the team is Percy Harvin and he's one of the best offensive weapons in the entire league

__fense
__fense

@a57se @marshrandy So wait, you don't want to even talk about Tate, who's a really good WR but not good enough to build a team around, but then you bring up Josh McCown? Come on.

marshrandy
marshrandy

@a57se @marshrandy I've never brought up Cousins as far as I remember but yes I have been talking up Tate and I stand by that

marshrandy
marshrandy

@a57se @marshrandy I've been talking about wanting to sign Jeremy Maclin all year. And I'd support signing both those QBs as well. Jesus all I was doing was pointing out potential players we would look at in FA and you start crying. Relax for once
