One of the ripples in the pond that might make waves for the Jets is the potential availability of Hue Jackson. News leaked today that Jackson has been terminated by the team’s new GM, and the team will be heading in a new direction.
The Oakland Raiders fired coach Hue Jackson on Tuesday, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter [...] [w]hen reached by CSNBayArea.com, an angry Jackson said, “(New Raiders general manager McKenzie) is going to gut this place.”
“He wants to bring in his own guys. No job is safe right now,” Jackson told the website.
Jackson’s availability has been conjectured to tie to the Jets due to his connection with Rex Ryan from the year the two of them shared in Baltimore, and that Jackson was rumored to be on Ryan’s short list of candidates for the OC position when he took the Jets job.
With Schottenheimer still up in the air for the Jaguars job, it’s anyone’s guess about how this will all turn out, but the drama around the Jets could jump to new levels depending on how this all plays out.
