Jets Bringing in Swayze Waters

The Jets are bringing in free agent kicker Swayze Waters for a workout according to a source. Waters spent time in camp with the Detroit Lions (2009), Oakland Raiders (2010) & Pittsburgh Steelers (2011). He attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

When the Jets re-signed Nick Folk early in free agency, it was just to a one-year deal, meaning he’s not a lock to make the 53-man roster. While he was pretty solid in regards to attempting field goals, he struggled on kickoffs. Mike Westhoff said this is the best group of special teamers he has ever seen. (His first season in the NFL was in 1982). The Jets are showing interest in various kickers. First Michael Barbour from East Carolina University and now Waters. This could be just an extra kicker to compete with Folk in camp (think Nick Novak,  Clint Stitser, etc.).
