Jets Looking Trade Players this Week?

The Jets have been trying to clear some cap room by trading some lower level players so they have maneuverability around the draft. Don’t be surprised to see them trade a player or two.

Carmelo said tonight in NYC of his meeting with Phil Jackson, Derek Fisher & Steve Mills: "It was a great meeting with Phil. It went well,"

Carmelo Anthony also said of the Derek Fisher hiring: "I like what Phil is doing."

Not sure patty mills is a starter....I would use the 3 mil on Darren collison or grevis vazquez

I'm kinda confused on how this works because Rotoworld said his contract was up, but who else would like to see Timofey Mozgov back in NY. Assuming GS really does have interest in Chandler, we could get David Lee in that trade probably. If we could somehow work out getting Mozgov back I would say we have a good set of guys down low.

This is why POPOVICH is great LOL!:

A source said Mills not only handled backup duties deftly all season, but he was one of the glue guys in the locker room. Mills led the entire London Olympics in 2012 in scoring average (21.2) for the Australian national team, but hadn’t made an impact in the NBA.

The overriding factor in Mills’ emergence this season was dropping his body fat under 5 percent after a rigorous offseason regimen.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovic used to call him “little fat ass.’’(lol)

“He’s a special guy,” Popovich said after Sunday’s clincher. “His energy has been important to us all year long. He’s a real significant reason why we got to the Finals. That energy, that team sense that he has really has become infectious for everybody.”

Dwight Howard Melo-to-Rockets Push:

“I think he just wants to win right now,” Howard said in a Q&A with USA Today. “That’s his only goal. I’ve always been a Melo fan. One thing he said in an interview a long time ago, I think my first or second year in the league, I remember him saying that if he could play with one guy in the league, he would play with Dwight Howard, so you never know. You never know what could happen.”

Earlier in the season, Howard talked about Anthony’s impending free agency by saying endorsements come through winning, not from being in a big market like New York City. It was his way of sending Anthony a message.

“I haven’t spoken with Melo personally,” Howard said. “I know this is a time for him when he has to really just focus on what’s going to be best for him. And I really believe that in this point in Melo’s career, he just wants to win. He’s done everything — we both have that kind of same mentality to where all the individual accolades, we’ve got them. We’ve got a gold medal, he has been in tops in scoring for a while, but those are all individual things.

With the way the Heat played against San Antonio, the fear in Miami has been that James would bolt this summer, looking for a situation with younger stars and a deeper roster. But a source close to the situation said that, while no final decisions have been made, James "is very likely" to stay in Miami. Sporting News -

The source indicated that James remembers all too well the way he was pilloried for leaving Cleveland four years ago, and that he has worked hard to rebuild his public perception. He feels the team can still win in Miami, and bolting while the team is still of championship caliber will undo the remaking of his image. Sporting News -

Adam Zagoria: Talked to one league source who says Phil Jackson is looking to 'shake things up', including trying to get a 1st-round pick. #Knicks Twitter @AdamZagoria -

Shake it up Phil!!!  Probably trying to make a move to entice Melo.

Chicago is aggressively trying to move its two first-round picks, according to rival executives. The Bulls are believed to be looking for either a veteran scorer or the chance to move up in the draft to select a young wing player with scoring potential. SI.com -

Chi kinda realized Melo isn't going there???  Hmmm...

@pezhao Kevin love isn't the best Free agent in 2015, its Lamarcus Aldridge, Kyrie irving and Rajon Rondo then Kevin Love.

@pezhao

What if Carmelo stays for the same amount of money - or less - than he would earn on the market?  What would that tell you about Carmelo's goals?

Jendro Anggono
Jendro Anggono

@pezhao maybe not next year, but after that we will have enough capspace to make a contender team, there is no guarantee he will win with Chicago, Dallas, or Houston.

on 2015 I believe phil and fisher will fill the roster with a good player or at least a player who can play on their system. Winning doesn't always mean right now, you say this like Melo is Pierce who can only play for the next 2 year.

On your comment is seem like you don't believe that the Knicks can win on the future, I can't believe this came from a man who call him a Knicks fan

BigChiefTriangle

@pezhao

I think your sarcasm missed the mark here...Cleveland WOULD do that deal in a heartbeat (assuming Carmelo was open to signing there).

@JesusBlasTheKnickWay I'm all in with this trade. Next year Lee will still an attractive trading piece, a big player who can rebound, hitting jumper, passing, and healtier than amare+barg

@JesusBlasTheKnickWay

Lee's salary would be off the books by 2016 summer when Durant becomes a free-agent, correct?

And for all the people that don't think Mills will be ok, I have a few Lakers fans numbers you can call and discuss how they felt about 5 time champion, our very own, Derek Fisher... Peace out, go Germany!

@tkb staff... Come up with some better posts instead of worrying about placing a yellow pending staff on certain peoples posts, when they clearly are trying not to break the blogs rules, and not others!

@MeloStat301 He doesn't look like he has <5% body fat.  I mean that's like Lebron/Dwade physique.  I'd say he looks more like 8-9% which is still fine but to go from a fat ass to <5% body fat in an offseason seems unlikely.

@MeloStat301. Pop knows nothing and Olympics doesn't count. According to a few on here. Good luck with them!

This is a good thing, the more Dwight howard talks, the more of an idiot he looks like......

....keep recruiting Dwight. Try to stay out of trouble.

Yea melo, him n harden r definitely the guys u wanna play with.....

jeandd323

@Jendro Anggono @knicks1 The rat does not have a say. Lebron can opt out and become a free agent.

The scenario is a pipe dream because Amare would not take a discount to make it happen.

Jendro Anggono
Jendro Anggono

@BigChiefTriangle @pezhao Then I will love to have him on my Knicks..I really hope he will optin but if he want a money guarantee, I hope he sign with us for 18M/year for 4-5years

Jendro Anggono
Jendro Anggono

@knicks1 @Jendro Anggono I believe the last thing on earth that Pat Riley want to see is Knicks win in NBA. so for him is better trade Lebron to Israel than to the Knicks

BigChiefTriangle

@pezhao

I'm going to backpedal a little - I forgot that Cleveland indeed has the #1 pick (yet again).  That does make a difference in a scenario where "all" picks are being traded.

Had that not been the case (say the Cavs were drafting #5 or lower), I do think the Cavs would take proven star production - especially as they grow anxious over Irving's desire to stay in town - over the numerous swings and misses they've been known to make on draft picks (Waiters, Bennett, Zeller, etc.)

BigChiefTriangle
BigChiefTriangle

@illmatix @BigChiefTriangle

Me neither; I'm definitely not against trading the expirings that are on the books for longer deals if they are the right ones.  I think the 2015 names (Rondo, Gasol) will stay put.

2015 deck is cleared.....chandler will be traded n jr is his buddy

@thatsagoodpoint ???? That's what you take from the use of italics? Rarely is anything described as 'classy' actually that.

@Sandro Guedes @BigChiefTriangle @illmatix

I have no qualms with Lee's offense - he is gifted on that end and would excel in most offensive schemes.  It's the other side of the court that concerns me (which is why the 2016 salary relief helps offset those concerns of mine).

I do like Barnes as a young piece; he has the kind of defensive versatility (or at least the potential for it) that I think is becoming more and more key in the modern NBA.

jax13
jax13

C is marc gasol

Sg there are a number of options. Timmy could be a solid nba 2 guard by then averaging like 16. We just hope he gets better defensively which he will.

By 2015 a guy like afflalo could be available

Harden melo n Dwight would kill each other for touches.

Harden plays zero defense.....not a guy I would want to play with.

jax13
jax13

Nope they did not but it's the west.

jax13
jax13

Marc gasol in the triangle or no triangle, I would take over howard any day.

And howard is a disruptive person too.

jax13
jax13

I am just not as high on the mix of players in Houston.

I definitely do not think melo goin to Houston is a guaranteed chip.

Harden takes so many bad shots n plays zero defense.

Harden was different in okc.

edb7777
edb7777

@jax13 Agreed.  I doubt he goes back to his OKC playing style just because Melo signed.  And as for Howard, develop a post game to prove you will be worth anything once you're over 30.  If your two primary basketball skills are running and jumping...well those don't age well.  Also, I've been to Houston many times.  Its kind of a dump.  Like Philly but hot and more polluted.
