Our old friend Roof shared a picture on Twitter with us that we had seen about a week ago and almost did a spit-take on when we saw it. Of course Roof is joking about the performance enchancers, but man, we thought Thomas Jones had the tickets to the gun show! The one thing we wonder when we see a player where agility is an important factor in their role bulked up like this … we start to think about David Boston.
Remember Boston? He was the Arizona receiver who was always injured – some surmised due to his bulk. Maybe that’s some of what’s happened with Landry over the past few years, he’s bulked up too much, and it’s cost him his flexibility and lead to injuries. Sure, it’s a good thing to be tough against the run, but he looks like a linebacker, not someone who can run in coverage. That’s what the Jets need most. In the last two seasons he’s been sidelined with an Achilles tendon injury, groin injury and hamstring injury. Not exactly a recipe for continued to success if he’s still sacrificing flexibility for pure bulk.
