Well that was fast! Adam Schefter is reporting that Peyton Manning will decide on his new team next week. Also in the report, Schefter notes that Manning prefers to stay in the AFC.
Peyton Manning’s camp is aiming to make a decision on where he will play next season within the next week, according to sources, who add that while Manning prefers to stay in the AFC, he is open to playing in the NFC.
Sources say 12 teams reached out to Peyton Manning’s representatives on Wednesday, after he was released, to gauge his interest in playing for their teams. Many of the teams already have been publicized, but some inevitably will want to keep it secret.
Of those 12 teams, sources tell ESPN that the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos and New York Jets have actually been in contact with Manning’s representatives.
This is perfect for two reasons. First, I and everybody else with some common sense want to see this nonsense end, so we can go on with our lives. Secondly, the Jets can’t afford to spend weeks hung up on Peyton, because they will undoubtedly lose out on other free agents and won’t be able to fill their needs. Just look at what happened last offseason. The Jets were so focused on Nnamdi Asomugha, they missed out on signing a bunch of players.
So for everybody’s sake Peyton, please don’t drag this out..and gives us an answer sooner rather than later. Put an end to this Peyton-Palooza!
