Jacksonville WR Shorts Won’t Play Due to Concussion

Jacksonville’s second year receiver Cecil Shorts is having a breakout year for his team, but unfortunately won’t be active for the game tomorrow according to the NY Post.

Shorts, who is out with a concussion, is having a Pro Bowl-type season in his sophomore year. He has 43 receptions and 824 receiving yards, including three 100-yard receiving games to go along with seven touchdowns. Shorts also has scored in four straight games. He was knocked out early in the Jaguars’ 34-18 loss to the Bills last weekend and was not cleared to play.

Shorts has come on strong in the last two months and has benefitted from rookie Justin Blackmon as well as the move to Chad Henne.  Both players are dynamic and quick and their ability to get behind defenses has led to some big plays for the Jaguars – who are obviously forced to throw a lot in their games.

With Shorts out of the game it makes the matchups that much easier for the Jets.  They can concentrate on Blackmon and TE Marcedes Lewis and sort the rest out after that.
