Jets Release Four, Planning to Meet Keller’s Agent in Indy

Brian Bassett ,

The Combine provides a chance for agents and teams to rub shoulders, and before the Jets left, it looks like they took care of a little business for some of their players.  According to official channels, the Jets just released a few players as they prep for 2013 … while free agency won’t start for almost three more weeks, the dam is beginning to burst. See more on this below in Eric’s post.

Oh and this too.

Since Keller was injured for much of 2012, it seems to have ruined his chance of getting franchised by the Jets … which from what I understand, Keller never really wanted anyway.

Keller has been a good pass-catcher for the Jets, but he’s never become a dominant run-blocker and it’s always been something that the Jets worked around.  Morhinweg is used to having an athletic pass-catcher who also was a plus player as a run-blocker.  Outside of the Schottenheimer offense, the type of tight end that Keller is has become less important to the team’s overall scheme … we’ll see if there’s any progress in Indy.
