In his first game of his career on the active list, Jets rookie LB Marcus Dowtin was fined by the NFL for his his hit of Matt Moore’s head with his hands to the tune of $15,750, reports Connor Orr of the Star-Ledger.
The play drew a 15 yard penalty in the third quarter for the Jets in which Dowtin was rushing the passer. Dowtin put his hands up to try and deflect the pass and wound up colliding with Moore and his facemask as the Dolphins QB tried to throw a pass.
Brian Bassett, theJetsBlog.comIt was just a rookie mistake by a player who was obviously trying to do everything he could to help out the team, but in the end did a little too much. Dowtin is a special talent and while that play demonstrated that he’s still raw, his athletic abilities are impressive and I really can’t wait to see more of what he can do for this team during the second half of the season.
