The Jets worked out some defensive backs on Tuesday according to Rich Cimini.
Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.comWhile Ryan did say Monday that “I think [Milliner] is going to be fine” when asked about injuries, this might indicate otherwise. This could be a sign that Dee Milliner might not be able to play this week against the Bengals. If that is the case, then expect Dowling at practice Wednesday. If not, then the Jets might bring Dowling back should another player get injured. Dowling was the 33rd pick in the 2011 NFL Draft and aside from a workout with the Texans last month, has been a free agent since the Patriots waived him in August.
The Jets took Muhammad Wilkerson just three picks before Dowling. Dowling played collegiately at Virginia and was a riser leading up to the draft. Dowling had injury concerns, but was considered and excellent athlete at his size (6’1″) and range for a corner. Dowling was said to have decent press coverage skills … which might be why the Jets are interested. Unfortunately for the Patriots, they have seemed to chase athleticism too much and that might have been the problem for the Patriots.
