NFLPA Collegiate Bowl 2013: Luke Willson

Tight End – Rice
6’5″ 250 pounds

Scouting Report: Willson is athletic, has great size and is a willing blocker and was an impressive pass catcher.  He was the most consistent tight end at the Collegiate Bowl in terms of getting separation, and could either stay around his current size and work with a team as a potential “F” tight end or add a few pounds and be used more as a “Y” tight end.  While Willson’s receiving skills might need a little polishing, he’d be a good prospect for a team to try and round out for the NFL game and could be a versatile player.

Notes: Willson was probably the one player in the whole game that impressed me most.  The Rice Tight End struggled with an ankle injury in 2012, which severely limited his production.  Playing at Rice, Wilson is at a school that doesn’t get much national attention, but he’s played in spring training with the Blue Jays as well as already been drafted by the Toronto Argonauts.  Willson snagged three catches for 46 yards and a score during the Collegiate Bowl and was in the discussion for MVP of the game, an award given to Kansas QB Dayne Crist.
