Rich Cimini writes that while he might have had a good day against a very bad Bills defense, don’t be surprised if Shonn Greene isn’t back in green & white
It wasn’t spectacular, but he grinded out 74 yards, giving him 1,063 yards for the season. Greene will be an unrestricted free agent. Chances are, he won’t be back.
Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.comCan we call that a promise?
Greene has been a tantalizing, yet maddening #1 RB for the Jets since he took over the top spot in 2010. Much like the one guy the Jets took before in in the 2009 draft, he’s shown flashes but never done enough from a 20+ carries a game September to December perspective. He can play well in spurts, but on the whole generally plays down to the level of his line, nothing more. I don’t know if Powell can become the back that the Jets always hoped Greene would be, but I know he won’t be less than what Greene turned out to be.
For that reason alone there’s no reason to bring back Shonn Greene.
