For a team that’s dealing with a tough slate of injuries already this season, watching Stephen Hill go up for a reception and come down grabbing his knee in obvious pain during the early second quarter against the Jaguars was the last thing many Jets fans wanted to see.
According to reports, Hill will have an MRI on Monday to determine how extensive the damage is, but at this point Rex Ryan did not speak about how serious it is yet per Rich Cimini on ESPN NY.
Rex Ryan said he didn’t know the extent.
“Man, that was tough,” he said. “The young man, I saw him getting better. Hopefully, it’s not severe.”
Brian Bassett, theJetsBlog.comHill was starting to turn a corner so if this is the last time he gets to see on the field this year that will be a shame. Still, Hill has started to show some of his potential more recently and that’s a good sign for his future, but if this is it for him this year, it’s going to be a long offseason and going to take a lot of work for him to get everything back together and ready to go by the start of next summer.
If in fact Hill doesn’t play another down this season, that’s one less weapon for Sanchez and the passing game to work with. Over the course of the year almost every player at the receiver spot as well as Dustin Keller have been out with injuries at some point. All the more reason to commit to the run in coming weeks.
We’ll hope for the best in the news tomorrow, but will keep our fingers crossed until then.
