Stephen Hill hit the practice field today working during the individual drills portion of Jets practice. But once it was time for the positional and team drills to begin, the wide receiver sat out the because he once again had swelling in his repaired knee. While Hill spends most his days at the facility rising early and preparing for the season late into the night, he’s having a tough time staying on the practice field right now.
Two weeks ago, Hill was held out of the offseason team activities and when asked about the matter today by Newsday’s Kim Martin, said the matter was totdally precautionary. “They said it’s normal that it’ll happen earlier,” Hill told Martin of the swelling. “That’s the reason why I’m in the spot I’m in now – just to make sure that everything’s clear.”
From all indications, Hill will return to the practice field during team drills next week and that the plan is to be cautious with his reps now so that he can go full on soon.
Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.comThe more reps the better right now for Hill, but not at the expense longevity or his readiness for the season. OTAs are good for him to participate in and every rep is going to help him learn the pro game, but we’ll have to be patient and see how he looks at training camp.
