Jarvis Jones Cleared By Medical Report?

Any doubts about Georgia OLB Jarvis Jones going as a top ten pick might have been alleviated based on a medical report being sent to teams around the league this week that apparently will clear Jones, per the granddaddy of scouting, Gil Brandt.

In the many mock drafts I’ve looked at so far, Jarvis Jones is considered a top five talent but it’s been the medical concerns that have caused some fluctuation in where he’s getting picked in the mocks.  Jones was diagnosed with spinal stenosis while playing at USC and doctors wouldn’t clear him to play because of the condition.  Jones response?  He transferred to Georgia and played very well over the past two seasons.  A look at his game tape doesn’t seem to show any signs that the condition is slowing him down so far, but for a player to be drafted as high as Jones might be, teams will want to do all their homework.

Drafting ninth, the Jets will most likely look very closely at Jones and his medical reports, they might even bring him to Florham Park in the spring for one of their visits to gauge his health a little more.
