For the past three years, I’ve put together a list of draft prospects the Jets are showing major interest in, (whether that means combine interviews, private workouts, talking to at all-star games, etc). Included in that list you will find the player’s height, weight, 40time, projected round, and a detailed scouting report.
We started off the list in 2010. We scouted and put together a list of 44 players the Jets had interest in. 3 ended up being Jets. (Kyle Wilson was drafted, Ricky Sapp was signed in 2011 to the practice squad and is now on the active roster, and Donovan Warren, who was signed as an UDFA after the ’10 draft.) [We broke it up that year, so you can also find some of that list here, and here.]
In 2011, we listed 34 guys. 2 ended up being drafted by the Jets (Kenrick Ellis and Bilal Powell). Clyde Gates, who was signed by the Jets in September also appeared on the list [under his full name, Edmond Gates]. Jaiquawn Jarrett, who was signed to a reserve/future contract a few weeks ago also showed up on the 2011 Jets Player Interest List).
Last year, the list absolutely exploded, as 101 players appeared on the Jets Interest List. Of the 101 guys, 10 ended up being Jets. (6 were drafted: Quinton Coples, Stephen Hill, Josh Bush, Terrance Ganaway, Robert T. Griffin & Antonio Allen, while 1 was signed as an UDFA (D’Anton Lynn) and the other, long snapper Travis Tripucka, was just signed to a reserve/future deal).
2, (Dan Di Lella and Josue Ortiz) were invited and participated in Jets minicamp, but were not offered deals.
This year, my goal is to outshine last year’s list. I’ve already started to put together a list for the 2013 draft, based on players the Jets have been talking to at the Shrine Bowl, Senior Bowl, etc. However, I can use your help!
If you hear of any player the Jets have been linked to, feel free to shoot me a Tweet (@Steiny31), or write me an email: (JakeSteinbergJets@Yahoo.com).
Thanks, and let’s make this the best Jets Player Interest List yet!
