Braylon Edwards challenging for a spot

Braylon Edwards had quite a night on Saturday and depsite his productivity, Edwards is still looking to cement his spot with the team, per the Star-Ledger:

Former star receiver Braylon Edwards is battling for a spot on this team, and he helped his cause Saturday, with three catches for 49 yards, and a long of 26. Another receiver battling for a spot, undrafted free agent Ryan Spadola, also had three catches for 49 yards, with a long of 27. Edwards was targeted five times, Spadola three.

“Mark got into a comfort zone,” Edwards said. “It felt good to be around that again. I still can make plays. I showed you tonight.”

Brian Bassett,

It is amazing to think that Edwards is in a spot where he’s battling for a place on this offense in 2013. Regardless, whoever is the quarterback would benefit from having a player like Edwards available on the field and we hope that he does in fact make the team.

While we like what we see from Stephen Hill, Edwards had some of the best catches of the night against the Jaguars, and we think he could be a productive part for this team, even if it is just as a backup.
