So far three names at the quarterback have been tied to the Jets. McCown has just signed with Tampa Bay. The Jets and Matt Schaub are mutually uninterested. There was a reported “roadblock” between Mike Vick and the Jets.
Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.comMcCown wasn’t my favorite option among the backup quarterbacks available and I do think that his 2013 season statistics has to be considered an aberration.
Are we staring down a Matt Simms and David Garrard backup scenario again in 2014? What about Mark Sanchez? The more veterans sign elsewhere the more likely the possibility of a restructured Sanchez seems.
Take heart, there will be another wave of QB releases that could come after the NFL draft. It might not be as good a group, but there might be some backups yet to hit the market for the Jets to pick through.
