Breaking: Revis Out For the Season
Our worst fears have been confirmed by a sullen Rex Ryan at his noon press conference. Darrelle Revis has suffered a torn ACL and will be out for the remainder of the season. Ryan called the injury “significant” and surgery will be required. The doctors are expected to wait 2-3 weeks before performing surgery to allow the tissue to stabilize.
This is obviously a major blow to the Jets and their defense which will now have to compensate for losing one of its star players. The task isn’t impossible but it’s made extremely difficult without your well-respected shutdown corner. The onus rests with Kyle Wilson to help pilot the Jets’ secondary with Antonio Cromartie and this also forces the other guys such as Lankster, Trufant, and, barring the addition of another cornerback, Donnie Fletcher to step to the stage and take on a greater role week in and week out.
To quote the great Ron Simmons…
