Buzz: Inactive Lists for Bills at Jets Announced

Bent , theJetsBlog.com

Here are the inactive lists for today’s season opener against the Bills:

BUF inactives: QB Tarvaris Jackson, WR T.J. Graham, S Delano Howell, DE Kyle Moore, LB Kirk Morrison, T Sam Young, C Colin Brown.

NYJ inactives: G Caleb Schlauderaff, T Dennis Landolt, DT Sione Po’uha, QB Greg McElroy, WR Clyde Gates, S Eric Smith, DL Damon Harrison

Analysis: Obviously the biggest news here is the confirmation that Sione Po’uha will sit this one out. The Jets will be hoping that his impact would have been more or less mitigated by the Bills’ spread attack anyway, so hopefully this won’t be a major loss. Nevertheless there will be a lot of pressure on Kenrick Ellis in his first career start. The Jets obviously see Coples, Ellis, DeVito, Wilkerson and Dixon as sufficient DL depth for this matchup.

The Jets are also taking a slight risk by de-activating Caleb Schlauderaff and Greg McElroy, as an injury to Sanchez or Mangold would leave them with just one replacement available. However, these are the same risks every team (including the Bills above) have to take. Their only other option would have been to de-activate a linebacker, but they obviously need those for special teams.

Smith and Landolt are injured, so it’s no surprise to see them inactive. With Chaz Schilens and Joe McKnight both confirmed healthy during the week, it’s not surprising to see newcomer Clyde Gates on the list either.
