Buzz: Jets interested in DT LaKendrick Ross?

LaKendrick Ross is a small school defensive tackle prospect from Virginia University of Lynchburg, who – having been declared academically ineligible last season – is now entering this month’s supplemental draft. According to TheJetsBlog’s Jake Steinberg, the Jets may be interested in him.

Ross caused a stir recently when he ran a sub-5.0 forty at 365 pounds and did an astonishing 47 bench reps at a private workout. Jake has also profiled Ross for Vice Sports, where he reports that Ross’ agents have fielded over 80 calls from 28 NFL teams since that workout.

The Jets used a first round pick in 1990’s supplemental draft to select wide receiver Rob Moore, but haven’t selected anyone since, although they did sign safety Tracy Wilson after he went unselected in 2011.

Is this guy clean? How many 365 lb men in the entire world are capable of running a sub-5 forty?

If they are interested, they need to be very careful where they pick.  When they selected Rob Moore in the 1990 supplemental draft, they lost their first pick in the 91 draft.  In that draft, they targeted a QB named Bret Favre, but had no first round pick.  They lost out on him to the Atlanta Falcons, who picked Favre with the 33rd pick.  With the 34th pick, the Jets took Browning Nagle.  A slight difference in how their careers turned out.

I heard a lot of noise here today... please, don't believe in everything is written by who never lived here in Brazil, ok?!

WilliamG1: If our economics are bad I don't understand why all shops in Miami are hiring portuguese people and Brazilians were still one of the most buyers in US and Canada last year.

Bradysucks: I really hope they deport some guys! haha Problem is everytime we do that, someone called them and they keep playing around! haha

Bent and Hank: thanks for the support! it doesn't ease the headache but still counts! LOL

Talking about WC, what happened was just awful! I don't agree with the players our coach sent to the game (clearly we should have bring more midfields (i.e. William) than strikers (i.e. Fred and Bernard).

Consider:

1) German is playing with same base last 6 years. 1 1/2 year ago Brazil fired the coach and start all over...

2) 6 players are from same team: Bayern. Brazil has only 2 woring together.

3) At home: media, people, comitments are way loaded if compared when you played abroad.

4) Neymar IS a factor but if your team has only ONE factor you will not win! (we know the feeling, right NYJfans?)

But we've got there! IMO when you get the semifinals you did your job, simply as that! For me it's just as when you make your way to the SB, you've got there even if you don't ed with the ring.

At the end of the day, we still have 5 championships. Next on the line is Italy with 4 but already out. Then Germany with 3. Argentina only 2 and Netherlands never got one.

Thanks!

If I didn't watch this and then just turned on and saw the score, I'd be assuming that surely Brazil had a couple of guys sent off or something, but no...11-on-11.

All Brazil this half.  You'd be pissed if your seats were down the other end!

Germany 1 USA 0

Germany 5 Brazil 0 in half a game so we can extrapolate that to 10-0 over a full game

...so USA would have beaten Brazil 9-0.

QED

I hope they get four more so we can all make the old "when did last night's game kick off?"  "Every 10 minutes" joke.

Realistically, though, games with monster first halves are usually low scoring.  It will probably end up 5-1 or 5-0.

Sad display from Brazil.. Two men should never make that much of a difference.

I think German would have won anyway, but this is just embarrassing!

How many more crying scenes are we going to get from brazil?

Yet another DT, lol can't have enough of them ha Rex? lol..But I think like I mentioned a month or so ago when there was a discussion of who to let go if it came to release next year Damon Harrison, Kendrick Ellis or Qtip, Most people agreed that Damon Harrison needed to stay but I said that this team's scouts in the Defensive line is among them best and they would make either 3 of those guys dispensible, I agree you keep Harrison, if either Ellis or QTip ask for too much you let them go. This guy Lakendrick Ross looks very interesting and if Rex is showing a big interest in him then I would bet they are already planning on letting one or two of these guys go.

@Hanknaples A lot of people over here saying it's the best ever.  Hopefully the final will be memorable and not a wash-out.

@Brendan The World Cup has been a great distraction from the fact that the average Brazilian life sucks right now because of the economic conditions. And those conditions are only going to get worse. Back to reality for them.

@Ceifus Hornswoggle Of all the mean sht ESPN has done over the years, this might be the worst. This is clearly the worst day of that puffy goober's life, and they're broadcasting it for the world. If that fat doofus can sue for being put on TV while snoring away at a live game, this kid's got a huge check coming his way.

I'm laughing uncontrollably while typing this, btw.

@Pablo Bruno He's a long term project at best.  I don't think getting this guy would impact upon their planning at that position at all for at least another year.

You know what I mean Bent.  Do me a favor Bent.  Ive bn playing catch-up with your BGAs.  Can you please link me to your Winters write-up?  That was your 1st BGA of the summer, no?

@williamg1 "And those conditions are only going to get worse."

And the World Cup is a huge reason for that. FIFA and the Brazilian government did a lot of shady stuff to get places ready (or "ready" in some cases).

@Bent

And a bonus to show they appreciate how valuable they are to the team.

But seriously no one would have thought this was possible.

@Brendan @Ceifus Hornswoggle That was on the worldwide feed.  I don't think ESPN has any directorial control over what footage can be broadcast.

@Bent @Pablo Bruno That's probably what you said about Damon Harrison when they took him, you never know, Rex sees what we don't see when it comes to linemen and corners.

Bent

@Pablo Bruno @Bent Yes I did...I was right though, he barely played at all in his rookie season, so he had no impact on their planning at that position for a year.

Pablo Bruno

@Bent @Pablo Bruno @Ceifus Hornswoggle lol, stay home next time, human beings are such a strange species, you pay all this money to suffer if things don't go your way, it's a game, next time watch from home and spend money on things that only make you happy..lol, simplify your life don't complicate it..lol That's why I don't go to Jets games, It would be brutal every week driving through that tunnel after every loss..lol

Did they have to ask the Korean fans in the stands to stay in their seats after the match was decided for fear of their safety?
