LaKendrick Ross is a small school defensive tackle prospect from Virginia University of Lynchburg, who – having been declared academically ineligible last season – is now entering this month’s supplemental draft. According to TheJetsBlog’s Jake Steinberg, the Jets may be interested in him.
Ross caused a stir recently when he ran a sub-5.0 forty at 365 pounds and did an astonishing 47 bench reps at a private workout. Jake has also profiled Ross for Vice Sports, where he reports that Ross’ agents have fielded over 80 calls from 28 NFL teams since that workout.
The Jets used a first round pick in 1990’s supplemental draft to select wide receiver Rob Moore, but haven’t selected anyone since, although they did sign safety Tracy Wilson after he went unselected in 2011.
