Here’s the latest player to be linked with the Jets:
Redskins free-agent TE Fred Davis is scheduled to visit Bills on Wednesday. Jets and Redskins also interested.—

In five years with the Redskins, the 6-4 248-pound Davis caught 155 passes for 1,973 yards and 12 touchdowns, including a career-high 59 catches and 796 yards in 2011 and six touchdowns in 2009. However, he only played seven games last year because he suffered a torn achilles tendon in October. Davis has also been in the news because of an assault allegation in 2011 and multiple traffic fines, something he attributes to “being with a bad crowd”, an issue he’s assured people has since been resolved.
Davis (a former second round pick) was a teammate of Mark Sanchez at USC in 2006 and 2007 (before Sanchez became the full-time starter in 2008). The pair connected on two touchdown passes in 2007. He dropped nine passes in 2009, but has been much more sure handed since then with just eight drops in three seasons. He’s definitely regarded as more of a pass catcher than a blocker.
Bonus link: Leberfield suggests it would be “shocking” if the Jets have legitimate interest.
