Buzz: Local boy Miles Austin a target in waiting for the Jets?

Could the Jets express interest in Miles Austin if/when the Dallas Cowboys cut him?  Rich Cimini of ESPN NY wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him land back in his home state.

Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.com

Last year, with a cap-strapped need to fill up the roster, John Idzik brought in a number of NY metro area players as a method of finding good players for cheap Willie Colon, Antonio Garay. Austin would be a similar type of player to bring in to the Jets, but relying on him for production would be unwise. Austin has had serious durability issues and while signing him to a rather inexpensive deal might make sense, it wouldn’t be the first and last move the Jets would/should make at receiver.

Miles Austin is Santonio Holmes without the clutch.

Another brilliant example of Cimini's "reporting".... Wait Miles Austin is from New Jersey??? The Jets play in New Jersey..... They should probably get him???

@Brian_Bassett the jets are not usually interested in local players with good moral character. More likely to inquire of Aaron Hernandez
