Calvin Pryor on practice field, not in pads

Calvin Pryor, who was diagnosed with a concussion over the weekend, is on the practice field on Tuesday morning. He is not wearing pads.

Pryor suffered the concussion during drills on Saturday and went through the league concussion protocols.

Later, Pryor tweeted “I’m fine everyone, no worries.” He also posted a photo on Instagram late Sunday with the caption “Minor setback… no concussion & I’ll be back in no time.”

The Jets, though, thought otherwise.

“Pryor now will go through the protocol, so it is a concussion,” head coach Rex Ryan told reporters. “Apparently it was on a kick when we were doing a kick return drill and he was blocking and the returner kind of got knocked into him and kind of just hit him right. It’s one of those things. One of those heavyweights hit you in the chin, the lights go out I guess.”

Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.com

The Jets aren’t going to put a timetable on it yet so we’ll just have to wait it out and hope for the best.

Come September Pryor will be learning on the job in one way or another.  so it is good that Pryor can at least watch practice from the sidelines.  The Jets need him to pick up as much of this defense as possible over the next month.

Anything on how the FB competition is going?

Geno seems to be completing a high percentage of his passes against the Jets defense. If that can translate into the games, the Jets will be competing for it all.

We'll have a top defense and top running game. If Geno can just protect the ball and be efficient, there isn't anyone the Jets can't beat.

@tsjc68 "Ray Rice saluted the fans and got a bit emotional in his return..."   He's the f$%^ing the victim in all this?!?  Give me a break.

@tsjc68 These idiots are running a clinic on how to run yourself out of being a media darling.

Seriously, the MSM looooooved them some Ravens, and now everyone is just distancing themselves more and more from them by the day.

Seriously, f#$% you, Ravens fans.  F#$% you.

@levi Pretty sure Richardson has goal line FB locked up. Sheldon that is.

@levi I've seen probably one tweet about the FB's, and it was to say T-Bo dropped a pass.

@tsjc68

He's played in 5 games in 4 years yet still draws a pacheck.  That's my speed.  Sounds a little painful, but I would sign up for it.  My Pro stats are not that much different from his.  Where's my check?

@Wilkershakes @tsjc68

The media smacked him to the ground. But it's all about how you get back up. He didn't need anyone's help, nobody had to drag him from the ground. He rose from the ashes of his own accord, like the mighty Phoenix.

@Wilkershakes @tsjc68 Give them the work address of Janay Rice, and they'll probably go there and throw tomatoes at her for "causing all this".

@tsjc68 @williamg1 Random Bart Scott Quote of the day:

"I’ll tell anybody that if they want to see a play that defines me, watch the first preseason game I ever played in a Jets uniform. The very first play. It’s against [Jacob] Bell. He pulls, I hit him, he had a concussion, and he walked around with sunglasses for two months. The thing is, it was the second time I did it to him. I did it to him when he was in Tennessee, I believe. He didn’t play until the 2nd game of the regular season. He missed all of preseason and the first game of the regular season. I put him up almost five weeks. That’s me. I’m not a big dude, but I can give two flying f**** about who you are, what your resume is, or who you believe you are. If you are the best in the league, you’ve got to prove that to me that day."

@jsadolph That reminds me of this guy I worked with during college (doing building maintenance). He was like 40 with a couple kids, and had a drinking problem. He wanted to get workman',s comp, so he planned to run across an apartment we were working in, and dive head first into a toilet, and claim he tripped. He didn't go through with it. Eventually he was fired for drinking on the job.

He was a Giants fan.

"He's been through a lot and we just want to support him", said a bunch of men about some other man who was not the victim of a horrendous act of violence against a woman that lead to unconsciousness.

Please don't try to contain Mr. Richardson with your titles.  He will play whereever he wants to.

We should bring him back as Head of Public Relations, just to see the media lose their mind.

Although it will be a bit sad watching Steelers fans give Ray Rice the business for being a woman beater... and then turn right around and cheer on Ben Roethlisberger.

"As I said earlier, I failed in many ways. But, Janay and I have learned from this. We have become better as a couple and as parents. I am better because of everything we have experienced since that night. The counseling has helped tremendously."

Yup, she better have learned from this...

@Brendan  IDK Im old school I guess but I love to see a good lead FB smashing people and paving the way unselfishly for the RB.

@jsadolph @williamg1 @tsjc68 Ha...the media won't lose their mind.  They'll win (in their heads at least).

'Idzik does not say anything.  This Jets FO is hypersensitive and scared of its own shadow.'

Two columns later...

'Rex talks too much.  His brashness will bite this team in the ar$e because that's the only reason opposing players play...to get back at Rex.'

Then we should use Dozier as the FB, just to give him some extra snaps.

Is there a better name for a FB than Bulldozer.

@levi @Brendan I agree with you...just different having T-Rich back there versus Bohanon (right now).

@levi I don't think they'd do it because they're still going to be a power running team, but if they were going to go full-WCO, I wouldn't mind it.

@levi @Brendan

I feel ya.  My counterargument:  We only have 53 roster spots, and I don't think either of our fullbacks on roster are even amongst the top 70 players currently in camp.
