Calvin Pryor, who was diagnosed with a concussion over the weekend, is on the practice field on Tuesday morning. He is not wearing pads.
Pryor suffered the concussion during drills on Saturday and went through the league concussion protocols.
The Jets, though, thought otherwise.
“Pryor now will go through the protocol, so it is a concussion,” head coach Rex Ryan told reporters. “Apparently it was on a kick when we were doing a kick return drill and he was blocking and the returner kind of got knocked into him and kind of just hit him right. It’s one of those things. One of those heavyweights hit you in the chin, the lights go out I guess.”
Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.comThe Jets aren’t going to put a timetable on it yet so we’ll just have to wait it out and hope for the best.
Come September Pryor will be learning on the job in one way or another. so it is good that Pryor can at least watch practice from the sidelines. The Jets need him to pick up as much of this defense as possible over the next month.
