Jeané Coakley, SNY Jets Reporter:
Defensive linemen Antonio Garay is getting ready for his eighth NFL season. He spent the last four seasons in San Diego, and says he is confident he will be able to contribute to the Jets defense this season. Garay is excited to be “back home” playing for Gang Green. Garay joins me in today’s Coakley’s Corner:
Jeane Coakley: You’re a Jersey boy. Does it feel good to be home?
Antonio Garay: It’s like playing backyard street ball for me. It’s fun. I’m happy to be home. I’m excited to be home. I have about 70, 80 family members in my hometown of Rahway. I have a lot of family here that, if I’m not playing well, I don’t just have to hear it from my coaches and teammates, I will hear it from my family members and my community. So, I’m making sure I’m doing what I have to do and do what I am supposed to do. I don’t have any easy moments, so to say.
Coakley: What’s it like working with a guy like Rex Ryan?
Garay: It’s fun. There are probably a thousand words you can use to describe the man, but he definitely makes things fun, makes it light. He knows how to have a good time. I think all of his players feel it. They get the good vibes. How he talks to us it’s not an act, it’s not a show and guys feed into it. They want to play. He’s a great motivational guy that believes in all his players.
Now, 10 questions to get to know Antonio Garay…
Garay: “Harlem Nights.”
If you weren’t playing football you would be…

What is something people don’t know about you?
Garay: I still live with my parents.
What can Jet fans expect from you?
Garay: I will do everything in my power to compete and play for this team. My life is football, 24/7, I’m committed to this. And I like having a good time in life.
