After Brent Grimes agreed to a deal with the Dolphins earlier today, it looks as if four of the other top five ranked free agent corners could be slated to hit free agency a week from tomorrow.
Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.comWhile we could see the Jets pursuing some safeties this year, the team seems to be trending massively downward at their spending at the cornerback position. Last year the Jets traded Darrelle Revis and are expected to cut Antonio Cromartie soon in a salary cap move.
With that in mind, it’s hard to say how much the Jets will be interested going above and beyond again in the cornerback market — especially after drafting Dee Milliner in 2013.
Even so, the value of players at the top like Grimes, Verner, Talib, Shields and Davis could drive the market for whatever price the Jets would offer Antonio Cromartie to come back should they decide to cut and re-sign the Jets veteran.
