Last week Josh Cribbs visited the Raiders, Giants, and Lions as well as the Jets — but as of yet Cribbs has yet to make a decision. While Cribbs did tell a Detroit area reporter that the Lions were “high” on his list (what else would he say?), nothing is official so far. When asked about Cribbs over the weekend, Lions coach Jim Schwartz was a bit dismissive.
Cribbs and the Jets had reportedly worked out a “framework” of a deal when the former Brown visited, but nothing was official. The Raiders apparently gave Cribbs an offer, but that didn’t keep him from visiting the three other teams.
Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.comWe wrote last week about the role that Cribbs could play with the Jets. In short, Cribbs could be a big help to special teams in both the return game as well as on coverage. Joe McKnight has been a great kick returner for the Jets, but the receiving corps might have more space to carry a returner as a fifth or sixth player than the Jets might be able to carry with a fourth running back.
