Cromartie explains hip injury suffered in Baltimore

NFL: New Orleans Saints at New York JetsCornerback Antonio Cromartie injured his hip again Sunday and was unable to finish the 19-3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, but according to Cromartie it came during a non-contact injury.

“It wasn’t an impact injury at all,” Cromartie later told reporters. “Something I just planted wrong, and it gave out on me a little bit.”

Cromartie injured his hip earlier this season, but did break his hip back in 2008 while with the Chargers.

“It’s the first time really this season, during my career, that it’s bothered me this much except when it happened in 2008,” Cromartie said. “It’s just a point of seeing what’s going on with it and go from there.”

Cromartie hasn’t been flawless, but he’s still one of the better players in the Jets middling secondary.  The hope here is that his injury isn’t serious enough to keep him out this week against the Dolphins, or should he play to impede his ability to run with receivers like Mike Wallace.

The Jets have a number of questions with their secondary already.  Dee Milliner’s disappointing season, Ed Reed’s introduction and overinvolvement in the defense and now Cromartie’s injury again?  Rex has some serious game-planning to do this week.
