I think Cimini has made it his goal to be the most hated beat writer in sports

Now I know what a roach feels like after a nuclear or galactic catastrophe,  lol

The press is having a field day with this Kellen Winslow story!

Guys, come back it, was only because of the major Rex news that FB invaded, things are back to abnormal, lol

I still cant believe that we went into 2013 with no viable vet qb and relied on a raw unproven rookie. I cant help but wonder if we had a proven vet when Geno had his bad skid what would have happened if we pulled out a game or two with a veteran at the helm?

Granted, Idzik did not have a lot to work with financially last off season but most of his FA acquisitions were less than stellar this season. Garray and Peterman were bounced, Barnes was injured, we all know about Goody and Winslow, and Garrards knee was basically falling off. The only stable but far from high achievers that he acquired were Landry and Colon, but Colon barely made it to the finish line. Ivory was a great pick up and kudos to that move.

Johnny gets a pass on this due to the horrible cap situation, but I would have gone for younger/healthier less noted players rather than old injury prone left overs, but what is done is done. This season Johnny Z has all the resources in the world, so we will really find out what he is made of, no excuses. In Idzik we trust.

Am I the only one who likes Brady ? I mean I hate the pats, but I like Brady. (glad there is no down vote lol)

Honestly the only way I could be more excited about Sunday's games is if we were involved..

As for Rex, is there any real job security in the NFL ? Not big news imo. WE MUST WIN..only thing that can secure a gig in this league.

Everyone is gone today. I had some things go down yesterday and missed a lot of the comments, but read some late at night and it seems many of the cats here are a little unsettled with more blog changes. We will adapt and survive! Its all about our Jets!

@jake100 These are wrong. We've already voted Bob the Dog as the top beat writer for the Jets this year.

@Marvel I can objectively state that he's one of the 3 best QB's of all time, and with Peyton is probably the best football player I've ever seen. But he's still an a-hole.

@Marvel

Exactly, the heat is still on for Rex. If he doesn't get to the playoffs this season they will ax him the end of this season and eat the money in 2015.

Rex has to beef up the offense and then he will be back. Getting the offense addressed should be his main focus.

Idzik still has a pass as he can still blame Rex if the season is botched, but I would differ if he doesn't bring in some real talent with all these resources.

@Marvel

Now we just have to hope Idzik can get some talent in here for Rex.

I am a big fan of incentive laden contracts for players but I am not so sure about incentive laden contracts for coaches.

@jake100 I think it's only gonna be big stories like yesterday's Rex Extension that bring in the FB comments. I would think the daily links and stuff will be the same old commenters

I guess this guy missed the fact that Beasley is returning to Clemson.....

@jake100 @Kyle Ely having inside info doesn't impress me that much, any beat writer has access to the locker room. He's an awful writer, it gives me a headache reading his articles

How do you feel about the QB position. ? Should Rex be blamed if the talent is upgraded but Geno (an Idzik guy) fails ?

joemustgo
joemustgo

@a57se@MarvelAgreed. Rex may not want to gamble his future on Geno's continued development and may decide to start whatever journeyman we bring in.

@a57se

Idzik and whoever evaluates the talent pool. I know its not to be expected, but we need players that can play immediately via the draft and we must hit on our signings. Like them or not, injury or court, Barns and Goodson didn't meet expectations.

Also I fear we may fumble the QB situation once more, I really don't see us moving from or bringing in comp for Geno. And what happens when he gets new toys but we see the same geno. I have a lot of doubt.

@Marcus Armstrong@jake100@Kyle Ely

The Cimidiot relies on ESPN folks for his technical stuff and has utilized enough flat out wrong 'analysis' to clearly show he doesn't know all that much about football.

I think most fans on this Blog know more about Football than the majority of our beat writers..........

@MarshRandy He's an awful reporter, but he's actually a good writer, which is partially what makes his act so frustrating. He is capable of worthwhile reporting/writing, but he chooses not to in order to generate the page clicks.

I truly feel with the upgrade in talent and another full training camp, that Geno will take a huge leap. As to your question, it depends on circumstances.

bradysucks

I tend to agree here. Geno is far from a sure thing. The only thing he proved as a rookie is that he is wildly inconsistent. I do like Geno's demeanor though and his temperament was just great. He never got too high or too low.

Now drafting guys like Hill and Vlad who take years to learn how to play a child's game is just dumb. Hey I have a great idea. Lets teach a 22 year old how to catch the ball. 7 year olds can do it so maybe if we teach him at 22 he can maybe good when he turns 26. This is why we have a practice squad and an Arena League. You don't waste 2nd round picks on guys who can't play pro football especially when you are so thin at the position that they have to step in and play immediately. Just dumb.

Now if Idzik spends as much time focusing on WR, RB, TE, and QB as the Jets have spent focusing on d-lineman the past 4 years then there is no doubt the offense will improve. Heck if he spends half the time the offense will STILL improve.

This isn't rocket science

@a57se @jake100 @MarshRandy The FB comments were coming in by the dozens. It was so confusing and overwhelming. It also broke up the discussions the regulars were trying to have. The SNY guy, Andrew V, had to come in and explain what was going on, while deleting probably 50-100 comments.

A little? That was as good a temper tantrum as any two year old would throw!

He even used the "I'm taking my balll and going home:" approach....loved the "Sorry you feel that way" answer!!
