I think people are overlooking the additions to the WR core and CJ out of the backfield as being a tremendous help to the O-Line.  With a competent set of recievers and a quality outlet that teams should be afaid of, the line shouldn't face as many rushes and Geno should be able to get the ball out quicker.  An O-Line's best friend is a QB that doesn't hold the ball for 6 seconds every snap.

I will sit back and enjoy this camp! Many questions will be answered and by the end of August, we will have a much better feel where we are going! Go Jets!

The main things I want to see is no injuries, Geno lighting it up and taking command of the scene, a cohesive oline, a ferocious Pryor who can also cover, and Dee train picking up where he left off last season. This training camp will go down as one of the best!

And Cimini's latest shtpile article: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/40708/notes-wilkerson-is-no-holdout?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

"There was some question whether he'd show up, if only because the Jets have had high-profile holdouts recently, notably former cornerback Darrelle Revis,"

No, Dickard, there were never any questions about him showing up. You have been angling for this story for weeks and now you want to finish it, but it's absolute nonsense. So because Revis, a previous best player on the Jets held out, it's open season to assume it's a realistic possibility with Mo? Hey, Hines Ward held out in 2005, WILL BIG BEN HOLD OUT WHEN FOR A NEW DEAL!? Screw off, Rich.

"Wilkerson, drafted in 2011, has two years left on his contract, making $1.2 million this year. Under the CBA, a player is subject to a $30,000-a-day fine if he stages a contract holdout. "

Conveniently leave out his salary next season, and cite a daily holdout fine that is irrelevant since Wilkerson was never going to hold out

"His compensation however, lags when compared to others at his level. The Panthers franchisedGreg Hardy this year for a little over $13 million. "

Omg. Greg Hardy plays a very different role and was not a 1st round pick and was not taken after the new CBA was put in place. His situation has almost zero relevance to Wilkerson's situation. Wilkerson is in the first group to ever have this option year in place, so comparing him to a 6th round pick who was off his rookie deal this offseason is awful reporting.

Great job, Rich. I can't wait for Joey to tell us how great this article is.

My nightmare scenario is the Raiders catch us off guard as they are also much improved and finally have a stable QB. We have a burner schedule after the Raiders, so we MUST beat them or things could get real ugly. In my view, this is one of the most important games, because it will set the tone after all the confident talk this preseason.

Rex declared that the Jets will make the playoffs, so the expectations are high and anything less would be unacceptable. I just wish he would have stopped at we have a much improved team and let all play out on the field.

The article concerning the oline was generally favorable but the last line is true and ominous!    "However, they are still only one injury away from having some serious issues up front."

@Brendan

Talk about premature, Jane McManus took credit for that piece!

@Brendan The war paint is on already and you probably didn't even finish your coffee yet, lol.  I love it, seriously! You go Brendan, knock it out of the fcken park today, Arriba! Go Jets!

@UncleJoesJetFarm Matt Schaub. You are going to start the rhetoric 6.5 weeks before the Raiders game by acting like Matt Schaub is something to lose sleep over. He was every bit as bad as Geno last year and then got benched. He has James Jones and a pile of dirty diapers at WR and the TE's aren't even worth mentioning.

I'll worry about the Raiders if the entire DL goes down, because if they're healthy they are going to leave Matt Schaub-sized imprints all over Metlife.

So, they are pretty much like every team?

@a57se Oh, happy day.

And yes, you were, you paraded around yesterday like I was wrong, when in fact I wasn't. Premature!

@a57se So she did. Rich wrote the original one and was tweeting out about it. Rich is the lead Jets writer, the Gary Myers to Jane's Manish, so I'm still lobbing a grenade his way, but she gets one too now (she should just go back to being a nothing-reporter on roller derby and whatever else she does).

@UncleJoesJetFarm No comment on your favorite sports "journalist" shamelessly trying to create controversy where there isn't one?

@Brendan @a57se

Is Willie Colon practicing today or is he on the Physically Unable to Perform list???

If he is practicing, you were right, if not...you were wrong. Just admit it instead of trying to wiggle your way out.

@Brendan @UncleJoesJetFarm

Another "anything is possible story".  The one where he can say "I'm not saying it will happen,  but it's possible".

There just isn't enough stuff to write about everyday when the team doesn't practice or play.  Even getting the salary cap stuff wrong gets people to respond to him,  which let's face it,  is all Cimini really is interested in.

It even gets one person to repeat the garbage on this blog,  which is a double win for Rich.

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se No, because "he is ready for training camp" is true. He is very clearly capable of practicing, Rex even said as much. He's holding him out as a precaution. Like I've said many times, if it was a game, he'd be playing.
