Statement to me from Jets CB Dimitri Patterson: "As it relates to my whereabouts and me missing for 48 hours without being seen or heard from me or my representative is completely false. My agent reached out to the Jets organization multiple times several hours prior to Friday night's game. My commitment to the Jets organization and to my teammates has never been an issue and never will be an issue. As it relates to the rumors about my frustration in regards to the depth chart is totally and completely false. In nine years I have never had control over the depth chart."

Another inside NFL question. Do most teams assign a scout to every NFL team this time of year looking at cuts?  Or would you have like 1 scout for 3 teams or is it less organized than that? Not sure how it works.

Gotta give Vick credit for turning his life around. He has been stellar since being released from prison. It seems some people can be rehabilitated. The Jets are fortunate to have him

@Brendan

Could have someone from the Jets told Patterson to stay home beacause their mad at him  for the way he's been playing and they know he can play better than what has been playing and then perhaps they decided to start messing with him a little. Thats called th jerk him off a liitle play.

Worst part about the whole thing is that the media is going to twist it into a circus atmosphere again.

@Brendan So why was he suspended at all? sounds like he followed the rules.

@Brendan There that settles it, now we can all move on.

@WW85

Probably depends on the team. But for college scouting most teams do it by region. So you'd probably get the same guy scouting Tampa and the Dolphins for example.

@roadyhorns haha...from a Jets standpoint, im happy to see they dealt their toughest/angriest lineman...will only help guys like Rich and Wilk, Snacks.....screw the Pats

“Many players still felt that Mankins was the best lineman on the team, the source said.”

Those players are correct.

Amusingly, they may have got rid of their best lineman on the other side of the ball too, at least if PFF grades are anything to go by.  Tommy Kelly (+1.5) was the only lineman with a positive grade.  10 others are all negative, with everyone 3rd string or above -1.0 or lower.

@roadyhorns Need that money to pay Revis. This is what the Jets would have to do eventually if they were to pay a CB that much too.

@Oberyn1

I'm surprised they haven't gone there already...

@levi @Brendan Sounds pretty clear to me that the Jets didn't get the multiple messages from his agent for whatever reason.

@levi

I would imagine it is because he was already at the facility, yet did not just talk to the coaches and mgmt staff himself.

I think that is what makes no sense.  I think he had something come up but was also angry and used it as an excuse to get away.

Brendan
Brendan

@levi I don't think we'll ever know the truth of that situation.

@levi @Brendan What is settled? Clearly Idzik and Rex thought this was more serious if he was suspended.  Whether or not the agent reached out is clearly not a good excuse if he himself was unreachable for an unexcused absence.

@Bent This is a massive trade for the Pats & the AFC EAST. My surprise is that they make this move with Brady at 37 yrs old & just 2-3 years left for a major run. Basically the OL will be adjusting for the first 4-5 games I'd think?

@levi @roadyhorns

I think Brady did something to piss off Bill and this is Bill's way of getting back at him, by getting Tommy killed.

Pete 57
Pete 57

What does that mean? What do you think he's going to do?

levi

@harold without knowing the situation and what EXACTLY happened we cant pass judgement....or shouldnt anyway. I mean we dont know if the coaches hangout with the players pre game.

williamg1

@harold Sounds about right.

I think he went to pregame meetings, found out AA was going to start, and took offense. When the meetings were over, he at the pregame meal, and then broke out.

@jetlife @levi @Brendan

No way. He was at the facility to pregame meetings and a pregame meal. Why didn't HE inform the team. He was with them 'hours before the game.'

@WW85 @Bent

Long term, I can see the logic.  They know that they need to rebuild their offensive line, get younger and more talented.  It's better to do it now with Brady back there - a guy who can read defenses and play the QB spot just about better than anyone.  They know they'll be putting Jimmy Garoppolo back there sooner than later, so might as well break in a new line.  When Jimmy starts, they'll have solid protection for him, which will help him adjust to game speed.  Sure, cutting Mankins isn't going to popular with the roster, but many of these guys will be gone soon anyway.

@WW85 @Bent Well, he missed several games in 2012 and they coped okay.  I guess they have confidence in their young depth.

Come on bro, your acting like Vick is an evil guy. Dog fighting is something he grew up around and no one taught him otherwise. Mikes cousin was the mastermind, Vick funded the project and paid the ultimate price.
