who else here thinks both Monty and 57 will be cheering their heads off when Patterson plays very well this season? I'm going to bet that they say they believed in him all along and knew he would be better than Cro. Just my opinion

Looking back at both the Eagle & Seahawk drafts, it was pretty rare for either team to spend a 1st or 2nd rounder on a WR/TE during the MM/Idzik eras there. Seattle never did. The Eagles used a #1 on Maclin & also a #2 on Djax. IF you are looking for someone like Maclin this year, I think both OBJ & Cooks are comparable. OBJ is closer in size, but Maclin was a bit bigger & slower. Both guys are all purpose types like Maclin was. Maclin had 1553 yds from scrimmage his last year college which may be why MM liked him?  ODB 1210 yds & Cooks 1947 yds.

I will be surprised if Lee isn't the 3rd WR taken in the draft.

If he isn't taken number 3 its because of concerns regarding his knee not his play on the field.

@Monty  Oh man, Bleacher Report said the Jets are struggling. it must be true because Bleacher Report, the master reporting of all sports, said it

@Monty

That was a pretty fair article.......

sorry this is for Brendan,,you can insert Patterson and ford  in there if you want.. heres youre complete list. Are you happy with this.. Is this a good job to you considering the talent that was available..

Robinson's stock isn't going any where. He is a late 1st round, early 2nd round pick. The media having players moving up and down draft boards is a joke,

42 vert is good for a f***ing shooting guard.

Lee had 1,721 yards and 14 TDs in 2012 before injury. What other WR in this draft had 14 TDs in a season.

@Pat d

So you don't think his 12.3% drop rate might have an impact on his draft position?

Not convinced Lee will and/or should go that high.  Watkins and Evans are obvious, but after that one can make an argument for Lee, Cooks, Beckham all going third, as well as arguing that there's virtually no true marked separation of talent between those three and the likes of Robinson, Benjamin, Matthews, Adams, Moncrief, Landry, etc.

That's the issue, isn't...if you can get a top WR in the second round --- maybe even the early third...why bother taking one in the first?   That's why these guys might fall.

@a57se @Monty  lol yeah, because Bleacher Report always knows what they are talking about. Hilarious

@Monty yes this is the jets plan take it or leave it alone...

@Tequila Joe @Brendan  not even close to the same type of player. They didn't even come from the same offense system in college but yet are the same player? Makes sense

Tequila

Are you comparing Hill to Robinson. Two completely different type WR, that's if you can even call Hill an NFL WR. As a Freshman Robinson had twice as many receptions as Hill did total.

@Pat d  "What other DE had 16 sacks in a season?" - Someone, talking about Vernon Gholston in 2008.

WW85
WW85

@Pat d  Cooks had 18 TDs in 2013. I think 16 receiving & 2 rushing or close to that. I will qualify & say it's not  a fair comparison since OSU is a high octane attack, but defenses were keying on Cooks & he still produced.

Pat d
Pat d

Drop rate will have no impact but the knee could. If Lee is there at 18 I would find it hard to beleive he isn't BPA

Pat d
Pat d

Watkins and Lee had similar numbers as far as yards and TDs.

Pat d

If Lee's knee is good he is as good as Watkins.

@Monty @twin  it's funny, because I was watching NFL network and Espn today and both stations were talking about the AFC East and BOTH stations said that the only team that is NOT improving in the East is the Dolphins

Only you seem to think that the Jets are not improving. So yes, take it or leave it

@Monty @twin  Coples is 23.  Wilkerson is 24. Harrison is 25.

Monty

@twin @Monty  this is not a plan.. its scavenging for the desperate praying for miracles and a blueprint for losing. He's wasting the formative years of the veteran core we have. brick mangold wilkerson harrison and coples are not babies..

Im not leaving anything alone,

I will say the same things until he does upgrade the talent of the team. More and more people will wise up and become louder.. and a change will be made

. Im a jet fan I want them to win,

trading holmes for decker  paterson for cro.. keeping the status quo and hoping the draft will save us is not acceptable as a customer of this team.

If this bottle of dasani water I  am drinking was GM the defense would be better,..and this bottle is almost empty.

I dont know about you ,,but when my heat doesnt work i get it fixed.. when  I dont like my job i find another one..when my foods cold i send it back and when my GM sits on his hands while every other team in our division gets better I make noise...hoping that others will as well

Hazard2012

@Brendan

OK.  I'm drinking the same KoolAid...say we step in stuff and get Evans in the first...say, too that Gilbert, Dennard and Fuller are off the board by time we pick in second...who's next?

TE?   To get maybe ASJ or Niklas?   OLB...to maybe get Van Noy or Attaochu?   Maybe CB to get a Baptiste or McGill?   OL?

They're all still on the board...

@Brendan @WW85

Evans is going the wrong way.....he's probably closer to a top 7 pick right now.

WW85

@Brendan I think it's possible Mack could fall or maybe Barr. Mack coming from Buffalo playing in a weak conference. It wouldn't shock me.

Hazard2012

@Brendan @Hazard2012

I'd probably do same.  Be hard not too.  The guy is a beast.   Instant offense anywhere on the field.

Brendan

@WW85 That's even more outrageous than Evans falling. I'm already pushing it with Evans.

Brendan

@twin I don't really want anyone particular player (besides Mike Evans who won't fall), so I'm open to a lot of guys.

I've read the scouts trust their hand times best anyway.....they figure they are more consistent from player to player.

@twin I believe the rule of thumb is to add a tenth of a second to 40 times at pro days, which would still mean an improvement.

@Brendan @a57se for some reason times are always better @ pro days... hmmmmm who's holding these stop watches????

Well I said his combine workout was enigmatic as he was all over the place.....probably just nerves.

@Bent @Pat d

I'm just amazed how many people discount a guy, completely ignoring his injury and other issues. Then turn around, look at Clowney who had a much worse year in terms of drop off in production despite having no excuses, and still proclaim him the prophet Muhammad himself.

Pat d

I feel confident that Lee will have a better career than the one that can not be named.

@Pat d  I apologize.

Lee sounds good from everything you're saying and good college production for a wideout IS a big deal.

Okay Bent, I get it

juunit

@Bent @juunit

Technically yeah. And obviously you'd be pretty happy with that, even if drops are frustrating.

Bent
Bent moderator

@juunit  In theory, you could have a 73% catch rate AND a 12% drop rate.

Would be pretty impressive to be open for a catchable pass and for the QB to deliver on 85% of your targets.

@WW85

Keenan Allen worked out real well but their have been others who haven't. Bottom line is a 1st round pick is not something I want to take those kind of risks with.

WW85
WW85

@a57se  I wouldn't risk a 1st round pick on a guy with a dropoff like that, especially when one of OBJ/Cooks will be available. Also, Lee was catching balls from Barkley until 2012 so Barkley obviously helped(as he would with any WR)

a57se
a57se

@WW85

I read that the other day and Marqise Lee looked great in 2012. He was probably the best WR in college football. I am just not that sure anyone will see that player again and wouldn't want to gamble our 1st round pick on him.

I was on the Lee bandwagon a couple months ago but watching his 2013 tape vs. his 2102 tape convinced me he was too risky.

Brendan
Brendan

@Bent That's how I remember it. Juunit will likely know, but I remember his catch rate being much, much better when he had a decent QB and a decent team around him. Also, injuries.

Bent
Bent moderator

@Brendan @a57se  Didn't he have a catch rate of 78% in 2012 or something or was that someone else?
