I have to go back to Pat Leahy to find a kicker I trust as much as Folk. This year, there were several times when I beat the lines in the men's room by bolting in there when Folk was about to kick. I had complete trust in him. Folk Hero was gonna nail it so I might as well take care of nature....

Just as a change of pace, I found this article online and I'd like feedback on it.  I'm not making it into a main post because it's a Tebow article and I'll get roasted if I do that.  You have to read this though.  Okay, you don't have to read it...but seriously it's so weird you have to.  Trust me.

Is this satire?  Was this guy (the author not Tebow haha) really employed by the Jets?  Could anyone genuinely feel this way even now?

That late round mock on the Jets site is garbage

Joseph Koll

Odell Beckham Jr. or Brandin Cooks in the first round. They are both a better fit for MM's offense and a better compliment to the WRs we already have on the roster, as opposed to Mike Evans or Marquise Lee, who will both be possession WRs in the NFL. Kerley, Cumby and Nelson are nice possession guys. Now we need the playmaking compliments.

If that Miller mock is our draft, we would never win a championship, IMO.  That is terrible.

Apologies for the late start today, Jets fans.

Interesting that the female kicker got cut not because of her kicking but tackling.  Makes sense though - not that the male kickers are much better tacklers though.

Graham hit with the non exclusive tag. Any team can sign him for 2 first round picks, I say no way! He would make one hell of a target though.

I think Maclin not hitting FA will impact how the Jets draft.

They need to land the Best receiver available.

@Bent  If he's right, then Rex Ryan and his staff were fools. I don't think Rex and his staff are fools.

@Bent

All I can say is I am glad to hear this guy is a FORMER scout for the Jets......

@harold  Well, does anyone know what his top two picks were?

@Bent   Oversleep at the wheel? No need to apologize; you guys do way more than necessary! Just don't let it happen again,lol. ☺☻☺

Don't think it makes any difference.

Maclin is a one year investment.

You draft for the long-term, so he should and likely will have zero impact.

@Hanknaples  Now I want to know if this comment is satire.

He selected Eric Ebron and Tre Mason.  Upgrade from terrible to slightly below average.

Nah, Bassett is apparently stranded up a mountain or something and I was out all day (remember, I'm in the UK).

The whole thing.  Where we pick these guys and who we pick are equally a disaster.

Even if you like the picks (I think they are horrible).

Where we pick these guys with the exception of Reid is to high IMO.

@harold  I did look at the rest of the draft, I'm wondering what specifically you have problems with.

harold

Did you look at the other 5 picks?  It is pretty bad.  Two picks don't make a draft unless you get Hall of Famers.

Brendan
Brendan

@harold  How is that terrible? It's possible he's expecting a FA WR so that isn't the need it is right now.

@Bent @a57se

Ask the St. Louis Rams if they think of the 2nd pick in this years draft as if it was a second round pick from last year.

Ask Washington if they are happy with their second round pick this year or would they prefer the 1st round pick they gave away?

When using the draft value chart to determine the trade value of a future pick, it is customary as a general rule to discount the value of each future pick by one full round.

You may think that to be ridiculous, but that's what most teams do and that's why when dealing for future picks you never get equivalent draft chart value.

Some examples are here: http://www.footballperspective.com/thoughts-on-discount-rates-when-trading-nfl-draft-picks/

Here's an example citing that philosophy from TMQ:

Discounting to Present Value the McGahee Trade: TMQ is underwhelmed by Willis McGahee, who's a legend-in-his-own-mind type. Football pundits speak of him as a star; McGahee speaks of himself as if he were Franco Harris, but McGahee's career stats are run-of-the-mill and defenses don't fear him. Still, he's a decent back, which makes me wonder why the same sorts of pundits who praise McGahee also said Baltimore gave up too much for him. The price was the Nevermores' third-round picks in 2007 and 2008, plus a seventh-round choice this week. Because Baltimore's seventh-rounder is choice No. 239, whoever is chosen there will be a long shot to make an NFL roster. If I were the Bills, I'd offer the pick to Denver for $3 million. Because this year's third-rounder is near the end of the round, it is only slightly better than a fourth-round choice; meanwhile, the 2008 third-rounder discounts to a fourth-rounder. (Future choices discount by one round per year: That is, you'd need to trade your first-round selection in 2008 to get someone's second-round selection in 2007.) In effect, Baltimore gave two fourth-round draft picks for a starting-quality tailback; the Ravens got McGahee for significantly less than the Patriots surrendered for Wes Welker. Anyway, whose front office has done a better job on player decisions in this decade, Buffalo's or Baltimore's?

@Bent @Disgruntled Jets Fan@jake100

That is ridiculous......you don't discount picks by a round when you are talking about any kind of situation.

harold
harold

That's a good point, but he a WR is still not worth it, IMO.

Bent

@harold  Well, strictly speaking he might just be a wide receiver!  Since when he was hurt he played exclusively on passing downs and in the red zone, his snap count in the slot or out wide was abnormally high last year and that's why he could be well within his rights to file a grievance.

@Disgruntled Jets Fan @Bent @jake100

Considering you discount future picks by a round, the 2013 18th and 2014 32nd picks would be worth LESS than the 2013 12th pick.  A late 2013 and late 2014 would be worth LESS than our current first round pick.  Two high picks is actually worth 3-4 times as much as two low picks.

Doesn't matter, last I checked he is a TE.  Unless he becomes a dominant Edge Rusher or QB.

Thanks but no thanks.
