Penny Pinching, Low Balling, Incompetent, Fake , Fraud, Idzidiot and Double agent perfectly describes the Jets GM.

If Powell is cut for Goodson this year or next that is bs. Talk about a guy that stepped when Shonn sucked, or last yr when no running backs could run block. Cmon do the right thing for once n pick the right player. idzik is all about high character guys we would have amix of all three types of guys. Johnson home run guy, ivory power n speed, and powell does alil bit of everything and had great vision wen he runs.

jets are currently 26 million under.  so money is not the issue.  unless ownership simply wants to pocket the extra.

Johnson would make up for the non-signings so far.  the draft will be key of course and NY does have 6 picks in the first 4 rounds.

adding Vick, Decker, Johnson plus a Wr like Cooks,  Beckham or lee  ( my preferred order) would give Ny a shot a decent offense.  draft a CB, a TE and perhaps a guard or two and the season has interest.

I'm a Oregon duck fan ( except for the student loans I have to pay for my kid)  and i love watching them play.  2 guys hold my interest.  D'anthony thomas ( assuming no chris johnson) perhaps with our first pick in round 4 ( he would be a great third down back and return man)  and that bad boy Colt Lyeria who is super talented but may wind up in jail for possession of some coke.  He may just get some community service and might get suspended for 4 games.  i mean what's college for?  Doesn't mean he is a bad person.  he didn't kill anyone.  he is not Aaron Hernandez.  that kid can play and would make a hell of a passing catching TE someday.     5ht round could do it and would be worth the risk.

seems like the Jets are too conservative so I don't expect that.  Philly will likely grab him in the draft.

Who started that Francessa rumor? Francessa? Because no one else would ever consider him for that job!

.we dont have a guy on our roster who had rushed for 1000 yards. Not pursueing a28 year old like Johnson is not defensible. He signed Goodsen to a multi tear deal but hes "above" Johnson. He signed barnes and goodsen last year did they play five games ? This guy is a joke.

Is there any indication that teams were given permission to negotiate with him? If the Jets were really discussing a trade I find it hard to believe they would take on the existing contract.

That Fatcessa piece is just inane.  You can't write an article on such a ridiculous premise as him succeeding Letterman.  I have a better shot of being drafted by the jets.

Johnson makes sense because Goodson looks like he's going to prison. That is an awful punishment for getting wasted in a car you weren't driving in which there was a firearm that was legally purchased. I feel bad for Goodson and I'm aware he made a dumb mistake....

MJD got paid 2.5 million a year. I think that is a fair value for Chris Johnson but I don't think he'd be willing to sign for that price

I'm looking for Idzik to draft what our scouts consider the best pass catching back in the draft....great hands, speed, durability, and protects the football...

as to who that might be, I'm all ears at this point...

Sometimes, it's not an effective strategy to sit idly and allow teams to outbid you. Getting Chris Johnson should be something the organization pursues before anyone else if they truly were the closest to trading for him. If you want a player, then you do what it takes to get him. Clearly Idzik didn't want some guys as much as other teams did, and that's okay. He prioritized wide receiver and the right side of the offensive line. I'm just hoping he jumps at the opportunity to add CJ2K to the Jets because I believe he has another 2-3 years left of high level play, and I don't like having to wait until November for Ivory to become a dynamic runner.

If he doesn't target Ivory, then at least draft Lache Seastrunk.

Idzik won't pay more than $2mm per year.

@nagel100  "...unless ownership simply wants to pocket the extra."

They'll spend it.  Some of it might be saved towards next year and put towards the Wilkerson extension, but they've always spent up to the cap and there's no reason to believe that will suddenly change now.

You can roll forward as much surplus cap space as you need to at the end of the season.

Don't you have to have a sense of humor to be a talk show host at night time.

I can picture Francessa cutting off guests and telling actors how much he knows about movies.

Cooks never missed a game in high school or college. He might have the fastest acceleration of any WR in the draft. He also has very strong hands and doesn't catch it with his body......People don't like his size. He is about as tall as Steve Smith and he weighs more than Desean Jackson with about the same speed. If he was taller he'd be drafted as a top 5 pick in my opinion.

It is called a pulled hamstring.  Ivory was effective all year when healthy.

My understanding is that the firearm did not belong to Goodson and that it was legally purchased in another state

I really like cooks... he is, to me, a desean jackson/santonio holms hybrid (skill wise) .... I'm hoping for cooks and one of the 2 top CB's with our 1st two picks.

Right, and Chris Ivory's health has never been an issue at any other point than the pulled hamstring from the beginning of the season.

@bradysucks not arguing gun control.   just stating that they don't know bought and/or owns the gun.

otherwise only one person would be charged.

bradysucks

By whom? The other guy in the car.....

All I'm saying is that if Goodson didn't own the gun and wasn't driving the car then I think sending him to prison is overkill. We are talking about a non violent crime. Yes, Goodson made a dumb mistake and his punishment seems severe to me. NJ & NY are clueless with their gun laws and most of the people who live there know this...

Other states are far more fair on these 2nd amendment issues

Yes hes below average

He is unfortunately the best we have with Goodson hurt.  Hopefully we can cut Powell, that would mean I our talent at RB is really good, imo.

Minor health issues don't cause you to miss games every season. I don't think anyone can reasonably expect Ivory to be a feature back for 16 games.

And whatever about Seastrunk. The point is we need another explosive type in our backfield because Ivory is not reliable for 16 games.

levi
levi

@harold  Is Powell really a below average pass catcher? I think he does everything fairly well but nothing spectacular.

harold

@gusto

Then you suggest Seastrunk as an option the kid has like one catch last season.  The kid is not a pass threat.  We already have too below average pass player in Powell and Ivory what does he bring.

Also Ivory has had very minor injuries, so I am not overly concerned about them.
