When there is no football and we have too much time on our hands, the comments get very entertaining, in their own way, lol

Hey! here is a blurb about Hank's favorite team!

Here’s what’s happened to Knowshon Moreno since a 37-carry Week 12 game against New England last season. He averaged 3.87 YPC the rest of the way, began losing significant snaps to Montee Ball, attracted almost no interest on the free agency market, settled for a somewhat insulting one-year, $3 million contract from Miami, showed up to offseason work overweight/out of shape and may need his knee scoped. Other than that, the Dolphins got themselves a winner!

 Another winner for the phish!

Reading an OTA report on the Jets I ran across the following line comparing Decker going from Manning to Geno:

" Going from Peyton Manning to Geno is like jumping out of plane without a parachute"

Brandon Flowers signed a one yeqar deal with the Chargers....

I guess Rex was REALLY hot to trot after him!

Saints first-round WR Brandin Cooks will spend two weeks working out with Drew Brees in San Diego prior to training camp.

Cooks missed much of the offseason program due to Oregon State's late graduation date. He didn't return to the Saints until partway through minicamp. Cooks and Brees will use the two weeks to make up for lost time before the pads come on in late July. Replacing Lance Moore and Darren Sproles, Cooks is a do-it-all offensive gadget piece and Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate.

Nice move...

@jake100 Did you read the 57 rampage over on NFP?  Great work!

@a57se I'll take that, I've heard worse, perhaps it's good for Decker personally as a player to prove his worth making plays when not playing for a hall of fame type QB.

@a57se

That doesn't even make sense.  They left out half of the analogy.

@a57se IdSACK blew it again!!!1!!3!

@a57se

It more means that the Chargers haven't had a good cornerback since Antonio Cromartie left town, and they're finally trying to change that.

@Hanknaples

Strange to hear 70,000 people sing the Colombian National Anthem in Brazil !!

It's the World Cup.  In the Southern Hemisphere.  Is it really THAT strange, when you think about it?

@a57se He is in such a great situation to have ROY stats and it will make the media question the Jets pick if Pryor doesn't light it up.

@Hanknaples Still feeling good about that division title proclamation, Hankenstein?

@Pablo Bruno @a57se

That is a double edged sword but he is getting $7 million from the Jets so he isn't hurting.

@tsjc68 @a57se

Hey, I hear ya!

I guess with Manning you have a parachute and with Geno you don't?

@tsjc68 @a57se

They play more zone than anything anyway...Flowers is a better fit for them.

If you remember, that is why Cromartie started to struggle with them, they went to more zone schemes.

@Hanknaples Colombia pretty much had it locked up before today even started.

@Hanknaples Hey Hank, I noticed one of the Costa Rica players shares your family name.  Relative of yours perhaps?

Brendan
Brendan

@BDarc23 He could just as easily spend his season nursing injuries while Pryor is out there playing great.

a57se
a57se

@BDarc23 @a57se

You are spot on...it could get ugly if Pryor doesn't deliver.

Especially if our young WR's don't produce.

Pablo Bruno

@a57se @Pablo Bruno He should get alot of passes his way, Geno likes throwing it to the big guys, and if the receiver can catch he should be able to have good numbers, unfortunately they didn't get Nelson until late in the season last year, but once Geno got chemistry with him, Nelson came up big, the tight ends could have gotton alot of yards too but injuries and not returning to the same form they did earlier in the season got Geno looking somewhere else.

@Brendan @BDarc23

Yeah of course but I'm talking about the NY media.  They are going to be watching every WR the Jets passed on so they can write something negative.  Cooks is in a spot where it could LOOK like he is amazing and a future Hall of famer

Brendan
Brendan

@Hanknaples Looks like they're going to get Uruguay with a good chance Suarez is suspended. Has Colombia ever made it to the quarters in the WC before? No, right? My memory is that they've made it to knockout before, but never made it past

Bent

@Hanknaples @Brendan Yeah, sorry Hank, looks like all the intrigue right now is in the Greece match.  They just took the lead and if they win 2-0 I think that puts the Ivory Coast out.

Brendan
Brendan

@Hanknaples Random question: Did you ever watch the show "Deadliest Warrior?"

One of their match-ups was "Medellin Cartel vs. Somali Pirates." It was pretty cool, since they're both so unconventional in their tactics.

Bent

@Hanknaples Yeah, but this is Spent we're talking to.

Brendan
Brendan

@BDarc23 My point is that Pryor is going into a similarly positive situation. Young WR goes to all-world QB with all-world HC/offensive mind. Young S goes to all-world DL with all-world HC/defensive mind.

They're kind of mirror images of each other when you think of it that way.

Unless Pryor plays like Ed Reed immediately the media will have their turns raking him over coals, that'll happen even if Cooks plays like a huge pile of dogsht.

Bent

@Brendan @Hanknaples That's correct, they were ousted in the last 16 in 1990 (Italia).

They've never been so highly ranked though (8th currently, high of 3rd within the last year).

@Brendan @Hanknaples

From what I can tell at Wilkipedia, the USA has a better track record at FIFA than Colombia!

That's pretty bad, no?

Brendan
Brendan

@Bent Any win puts them through. They have 1 point, Ivory Coast has 3.

Pablo Bruno

@Brendan @BDarc23 What if Pryor plays like Ronnie Lott and Stephen Hill has a break out season and plays like Randy Moss, then I guess were just lucky then ha..lol

BDarc23
BDarc23

@Brendan @BDarc23 That is a good point. Any defensive player picked by the Jets with a chance to start is going into a great situation.

@Bent @Brendan @Hanknaples

Cameroon beat them in 1990 when the goalie, Higuita failed to ahndle the ball properly...Cameroon ended up scoring twice in OT while Colombia only scored once.

Brendan
Brendan

@Hanknaples No, the 1994 disaster kept them from moving past the group stage. 1990 and 2014 are their two best individual WC's.

Bent

@Brendan @Bent Oh yeah...thanks.

Of course a Japan win affects that and they just equalized!

Brendan
Brendan

@BDarc23 Especially one that gets to follow behind those big monsters up front.

I'm looking forward to tearing Manish's nonsensical hater pieces about Pryor to shreds.

@Hanknaples @a57se @Brendan

According to Wilki, Colombia has made the round of 16 only once and lost to Cameroon in 1990.

the US has made the semi-finals and the quarterfinals...
with 4 round of 16 appearances.

He was a lot of fun to watch, but very erratic.  Moments of madness and genius in equal measures.

@Hanknaples That sounds like the plot of the longest yard.
