World Cup officiating makes me think well of NFL refs. Joke.

I don't know about you guys but I'm dreading rather than looking forward to "the Michael Vick Comedy Explosion".

off topic question.. If David Nelson had been on the Broncos the last 2 years would he have similar number to Eric Decker?  Consider that Nelson did have 61 catches in 2011 and their pre draft workout numbers are very similar (both 4.54 40 times)

@jake100 Did you read the 57 rampage over on NFP?  Great work!

@a57se I'll take that, I've heard worse, perhaps it's good for Decker personally as a player to prove his worth making plays when not playing for a hall of fame type QB.

@a57se

That doesn't even make sense.  They left out half of the analogy.

@a57se IdSACK blew it again!!!1!!3!

@a57se

It more means that the Chargers haven't had a good cornerback since Antonio Cromartie left town, and they're finally trying to change that.

@Hanknaples

Strange to hear 70,000 people sing the Colombian National Anthem in Brazil !!

It's the World Cup.  In the Southern Hemisphere.  Is it really THAT strange, when you think about it?

@a57se He is in such a great situation to have ROY stats and it will make the media question the Jets pick if Pryor doesn't light it up.

@Bent

The Roast of Michael Vick could be pretty funny though. Don Rickles should host.

Bent

@BDarc23 No...because he was injured throughout 2012!

I think Decker's relatively good 2011 numbers with Orton/Tebow are a better guide to his floor than anything he achieved with Manning.

@Hanknaples Still feeling good about that division title proclamation, Hankenstein?

Brendan
Brendan

@Hanknaples Colombia pretty much had it locked up before today even started.

Bent

@Hanknaples Hey Hank, I noticed one of the Costa Rica players shares your family name.  Relative of yours perhaps?

Brendan
Brendan

@BDarc23 He could just as easily spend his season nursing injuries while Pryor is out there playing great.

Pablo Bruno
Pablo Bruno

@a57se @Pablo Bruno He should get alot of passes his way, Geno likes throwing it to the big guys, and if the receiver can catch he should be able to have good numbers, unfortunately they didn't get Nelson until late in the season last year, but once Geno got chemistry with him, Nelson came up big, the tight ends could have gotton alot of yards too but injuries and not returning to the same form they did earlier in the season got Geno looking somewhere else.

@Brendan @BDarc23

Yeah of course but I'm talking about the NY media.  They are going to be watching every WR the Jets passed on so they can write something negative.  Cooks is in a spot where it could LOOK like he is amazing and a future Hall of famer

Bent

@a57se @Bent @BDarc23 For a serious response, I'd say that it's possible Nelson could have put up very good numbers with Manning although I'd say that Nelson is more of a possession receiver and therefore perhaps wouldn't put up the same kind of yardage and TD numbers.

@Hanknaples Looks like they're going to get Uruguay with a good chance Suarez is suspended. Has Colombia ever made it to the quarters in the WC before? No, right? My memory is that they've made it to knockout before, but never made it past

Bent

@Hanknaples @Brendan Yeah, sorry Hank, looks like all the intrigue right now is in the Greece match.  They just took the lead and if they win 2-0 I think that puts the Ivory Coast out.

Brendan
Brendan

@Hanknaples Random question: Did you ever watch the show "Deadliest Warrior?"

One of their match-ups was "Medellin Cartel vs. Somali Pirates." It was pretty cool, since they're both so unconventional in their tactics.

Bent

@Hanknaples Yeah, but this is Spent we're talking to.

Brendan

@BDarc23 My point is that Pryor is going into a similarly positive situation. Young WR goes to all-world QB with all-world HC/offensive mind. Young S goes to all-world DL with all-world HC/defensive mind.

They're kind of mirror images of each other when you think of it that way.

Unless Pryor plays like Ed Reed immediately the media will have their turns raking him over coals, that'll happen even if Cooks plays like a huge pile of dogsht.

Bent
Bent moderator

@Brendan @Hanknaples That's correct, they were ousted in the last 16 in 1990 (Italia).

They've never been so highly ranked though (8th currently, high of 3rd within the last year).

Brendan
Brendan

@Bent Any win puts them through. They have 1 point, Ivory Coast has 3.

Pablo Bruno

@Brendan @BDarc23 What if Pryor plays like Ronnie Lott and Stephen Hill has a break out season and plays like Randy Moss, then I guess were just lucky then ha..lol

BDarc23
BDarc23

@Brendan @BDarc23 That is a good point. Any defensive player picked by the Jets with a chance to start is going into a great situation.

BDarc23
BDarc23

@williamg1 @BDarc23 @a57se @Bent I say "scared" because no one would consider Nelson a threat to be a 1200/10 td WR for the Jets this year. He is a solid WR but we are hoping for a lot more out of Decker.

Brendan
Brendan

@Hanknaples No, the 1994 disaster kept them from moving past the group stage. 1990 and 2014 are their two best individual WC's.

Bent

@Brendan @Bent Oh yeah...thanks.

Of course a Japan win affects that and they just equalized!

Brendan
Brendan

@BDarc23 Especially one that gets to follow behind those big monsters up front.

I'm looking forward to tearing Manish's nonsensical hater pieces about Pryor to shreds.

Brendan
Brendan

@BDarc23 Serious question (for all of us).

Decker didn't participate in the combine or his team's proday because he had season-ending surgery on his foot (still played 8 games).

Where is his 40 time coming from?

Bent
Bent moderator

@Hanknaples @Bent @Brendan

He was a lot of fun to watch, but very erratic.  Moments of madness and genius in equal measures.

@williamg1 @juunit @Brendan @BDarc23

The first 30 seconds are very boring. But, yeah, 58' is 10 inches higher than Michael Jordan's vert. Although obviously, it's different from the normal vert test so probably not comparable.

Bent
Bent moderator

@juunit @williamg1 @Brendan @BDarc23 No, not comparable, although 48" for Jordan is probably urban legend anyway because Gerald Green jumps about six inches higher than he used to and I'm sure he doesn't have a 54" vert.

I remember an old Nike shirt that claimed Jordan had hang time of 6.6 seconds and then someone did the math and calculated he'd have to jump like thousands of feet into the air.

Apparently four feet would give you a 1.0 seconds hang time.

harold
harold

@Bent

Where is the evidence Green jumps 6" higher than Jordan?

Bent
Bent moderator

@harold My evidence is that the highest I've ever seen Jordan's head on a dunk attempt is about 3 inches below the rim, whereas I've seen Green's head 3 inches above the rim many times.  I did say "about 6 inches".

harold
harold

@a57se

That is not a vertical.  Box jumps are different from a vertical.  Jordan would have probably done 65-70 inch box jumps.

Bent
Bent moderator

@a57se @harold Eh, he only did that because Earl Mitchell was triple teamed by gravity at the time.

Bent
Bent moderator

@Hanknaples That sounds like the plot of the longest yard.
