Santonio Holmes due to make $855k ($0 gtd) on 1-year deal w/ Chi. Based on salary/production w/ Jets from 11-13, made $255k per catch. #nyj

Big deal, Rich.  Guess how much Revis got paid per interception in his last three years as a Jet...

$7.8m.

Injuries have a funny way of skewing stats like this.

$7.8m could buy you one interception or 31 catches.  I think I'll take the 31 catches.

Also, best comment from the Giants OL vs "Jets" defense:

Hey Connor [Orr], how do you simulate Wilkerson - with two or three guys?

Hopefully Saunders explains what caused his medical issue. I'm assuming he had a seizure, just based on the facts, unless he suffers from mild narcolepsy or just fell asleep at the wheel. I know people who when dehydrated and/or who haven't slept will be more prone to having a seizure. Granted, I have no idea what actually happened, so hopefully we finally get an explanation today.

According to __fense, who is texting me from practice, the Jets are running plays with Vick under center and Geno in the backfield. If I understand the text right, Vick pitches the ball to Smith, who throws deep.

Discuss.

So if Vick gets hurt in the 4th quarter this Friday, does Rex get vilified in the MSM again?

@UncleJoesJetFarm WTF? We're not even going to learn what happened?  The dude had a masssive seizure or what? Can he play football?

What did Jamarcus Russell get per TD. IIRC it was in the $11 mil range.

@Bent

Yeah, I am dying to see Allen cover Victor Cruz!

@Bent Just what I was hoping to see on Friday night. Probably going to need at least one of these guys to step up this year so may as well get as good a look at them as possible.

@UncleJoesJetFarm That's because all the Jets fans are voting for the Giants to be NJ's team. That's a poll you want to lose.

Other winners from those comments:

Crazy thought, but if the Giants practice version of the Jets D is that disruptive, maybe they should try it in some actual games?

 Since the O line is really the "OLE" line...I just hope Rex has mercy on the Giants and Eli.

@jmactheman

I'm watching the game with some buds friday and most of them are Giants fans.

Really hope our D-Line destroys Eli.

@jmactheman It happened once in the walkthrough part of the practice. No linemen, and no defense at all.

@jmactheman Dude, this was my unstoppable backyard football offense.

Since the rules for whatever reason meant you could only run it once every set of downs, we used to pitch to the "RB" who was really the QB and instantly made them duel-threat. We called it the "Pass Option Offense" and did WORK in the lot next to my house growing up.

@jmactheman What an unnecessarily complex way to throw an incompletion.

@a57se Probably.  Or even in the 3rd.  Or if some offensive lineman who stayed in the game in order to ensure Geno/Vick was protected gets hurt.

Or, if Vick doesn't get hurt, they'll vilify Rex for not giving Vick enough preparation time this preseason.

Tequila Joe

@a57se He would probably get vilified if he got hurt in the second quarter.

jmactheman

@a57se Yes. Note: If Vick DOESN'T get hurt, Rex gets vilified anyway.

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se Yes, because they need something to vilify him for at all times.

@UncleJoesJetFarm The Turn On The Jets guy is saying that the Jets will use a lot of two tight end sets, probably with Cumberland in line (at F) and Amaro at Y. We're going to need Cumberland for the season, but I'd like to see what we'd have for depth at the position on Friday.

At this point I bet the Giant fans a hoping Eli gets knocked out.

By backyard football at first I thought you meant the actual computer game Backyard Football.

Potentially the greatest game every created.

@UncleJoesJetFarm Sanchez wasn't the #1.

The fact that he was competing for a job means he should have played.

@Bent @a57se

rex should designate someone else to coach this game and take a mini-vacay....then he'd get vilified for missing the 'most important preseason game of the year!!!"

Brendan

@Bent It wouldn't be the worst thing ever to get a longer look at Sudfeld/Amaro on Friday, though.

Cumby's a known entity for the most part, live game reps could probably benefit Sudfeld/Amaro more right now.

@UncleJoesJetFarm You know Rich reads this blog, right? It's the only explanation for ditching the ankle hugger mom jeans look and throwing on a suit which looks like he bought at one of those buy three suits for $199 kinda places.

"Hey ma, can I borrow a couple of hundred bucks so I can buy some suits? Some meanies are making fun of me."

@Brendan @Bent Would ideally like to see Cumberland continue to work on his chemistry with the QBs though.
