Shields not franchised by Packers, reportedly more than $1 million apart and expected to hit Free Agency next week.

I like that news!

Verner not tagged either and he will be available as well......

The GGN piece highlights three Free Agent WR's who don't get much press, I'd be most interested in Andre Roberts of the Cardinals.

Between Floyd and Fitzgerald he hasn't gotten much of a chance and with the crappy QB's the Cards have trotted out the last few years it is no wonder he hasn't had thrilling numbers.

He is a very good return man and would provide good value as a Wideout.

Lots of ifs in sbnation mock. That said, I think I'd prefer Matthews to Lee at 28. Bigger, ran faster at combine, has been more durable so far. In that mock, Mack slides to 15 and Barr to 19? Hard to imagine that.

Sanders has to be the play..being a New Yorker and watching Nicks as a Giant. No thanks.

Boldin re-signed.

How much do these moves reflect the increase in the salary cap?

The Jets incredibly bad timing in these instances continues......

@a57se  No CB was ever likely to be franchised.  The gravitational pull of Revis' deal has the CB franchise tag value at over $11.8m!

Pollard re-signed so no more hearing from that Pollard lover......

Lots of things are hard to imagine at this time of year.......I think it is just as odd that Taylor Lewan falls to 18.

@a57se  Whoever trades for Amendola is taking a risk.  If a team like the Jets trades for Amendola and he keeps getting hurt, then they're right back to square one.

Wouldn't it make more sense to just try and sign Edelman?

I think they should find someone whose skills compliment those of Kerley, not duplicate them.

@gottem13x

I'd rather sign Edelman or Ginn, Jr. to a cheaper contract. At least they provide quality returns on ST's......

What woul u give Nicks? (assuming u wouldn't mind having him)

Oh well, that option is off the table.

@Bent @a57se  Do you see any chance of Revis agreeing to renegiotiate his deal either with TB or in a trade ?

I don't think TB has any choice but to pay him at least for this year 16mm.

Oh, How about that!....That is probably where I linked to it! DOH!

@Bent @a57se

I agree with you...no one seems to be interested in Edelman besides me.

Then again, I wanted the jets to sign him last year.

 1st round ?Barr /Ford or 2nd Van Noy /Beasley or other..

guess I'm asking how would u play it.

@a57se

 while I wouldn't mind a splashy move  , I'd prefer 4 or 5 lesser profiled moves..

we shall see.

Oh, and Boldin is about to go off the market

@bklyndude  No, but wouldn't it just be peachy if he mysteriously agreed to a $5m per year deal following a trade with the Pats definitely NOT receiving $11m under the table at the same time?

@a57se @bklyndude  He has no mobility which in the NFL is a bit of a problem.  You would need five blocks of granite in front of him, maybe six.

bklyndude
bklyndude

@a57se @bklyndude  He also had a QB that was capable of connecting on the deep ball as well as hitting him on his out routes.  Mettenberger has a great arm.  Curious which team jumps up to grab him and where.

a57se
a57se

@bklyndude @a57se

I agree and I am sure teams will attack him that way but Beckham does have the tools to deal with it. He will need to increase his strength which will help.

Another interesting thing with him and someone pointed it out at the combine, beckham was the only guy who ran the gauntlet and never left the yard line. That is the  ideal way to run the drill. Everyone else wavered off one side to the other. beckham ran dead straight.

bklyndude
bklyndude

@a57se @bklyndude   I'm sure for a college CB, absolutely.  He'll see more of it in the NFL though.  Not saying he won't be able to handle it, but it's something guys like him need to get good at.

a57se
a57se

@bklyndude @a57se

With his elite quickness and COD skills it may not be the best strategy to attempt to press him unless you are VERY good at it.

Loucheiz Purefoy who played against several of the top WR prospects felt Beckham was the toughest guy he faced.

bklyndude
bklyndude

@a57se @bklyndude The only thing that I noticed is that he was not pressed up at the LOS once in any of those highlights. He high pointed several balls and was great In the kickoff return game.

It is tough to watch his tape and NOT come away impressed.

@a57se @rstysanchz

Good....hopefully he wants to continue living in New York.

I watched the Beckham highlights last week and can see why you like him so much.  Combined with his great combine he's competing with Lee to be the third WR to come off the board. I would now prefer him to an Ebron pick by the Jets at 18.

a57se

@rstysanchz

I think Nicks will have a braylon Edwards type of market...meaning he'll be signing a one-year prove me deal somewhere in June.

 as many ints eli manning throws i feel like he makes wrs better...steve smith boss and manningham all put up good numbers with eli they leave the giants and you never here about them again thats why id be a little hesistant with signing nicks

Beasley went back to school......Ford is a one trick pony........Barr at 18 would be really surprising.......
Van Noy is the real joker...I've seen him ALL over the place...
