Raeding Matt Millers' weekly Scouting Notebook series and he says that at least two NFL teams let Brett Hundley know through back channels that they would have selected him in the first round!

He also provided a link to an excellent study of 10 WR's in this years draft. it is a two part study and the links are provided here:

Pretty good stuff and it is causing me to re-evaluate my views on we should be targeting.

That was a great story, from John Schmidt.  Hofstra, you have to love it.

Leave it to the media, to ask Decker about coming to the Jets, on the week that he is heading to the Super Bowl.

Idzik is a smart guy.  I think he will extend Wilkerson this year if he has a lot of cap room left over from F/A.  If he decides to go on a spree, he will wait.   I don't think he is interested in extending him  prior to F/A.  I can be dead wrong but I just don't see the benefit in it.  We have him under contract for two more years.  Extend him when it is best for the organization.

So now you aren't sold on Lee. 47% of Lee's catches were between 6 and 20 yards. I like that

@a57se this is great stuff.  I was sold on Lee but now, hmmm.  He's a YAC guy who drops a lot of passes.  EVANS on the other hand, looks like the guy we need since we alreadyhave a speed guy in hill who I think will be better this year if he can stay healthy.   In 2nd rd, I liked Mathews prior but now it seems like Landry or Beckham are the guys.

@bob Bob, if you put together a book of poetry, I'd buy a copy.

@harold With prohibitive language in all the rookies deals to hold out I see no reason that they would even address his contract until the final year. He's played well but failed to hit bench marks such as PB,or playoffs.

@Pat d

So do I but if he struggles catching the ball in college, it won't get any easier in the pros.

Not picking Lee because we already have Hill is absurd.

@Mateen Kemet@a57se

Yeah, Lee is less attractive now that I know he had a 12.63% drop rate...I didn't see him drop anywhere near that much on the tape I watched!

Beckham Jr. really looks better and better to me....him or Evans would be really nice in the 1st.

@johnnyI65

You make the decision to cut and dry.  Timing so you can use the salary cap to your advantage.  So you have to stagger contracts so you can manage the cap consistently each season.  So while their is not mandate to extend, it makes sense to do it so the team maintains flexibility.

@johnnyl65 Unless it's a SB and the player is a QB, team accolades and trophies don't usually impact player compensation.

The PB thing doesn't mean diddly, the 2nd team All-Pro in his 3rd season, though? That does.

@Brendan @harold There are certainly more pressing needs to be covered this off season.

I wouldn't want to let him hit free agency, and I would factor in a theoretical new contract for Mo in to the planning of FA signings, but wouldn't actually get it done unless we add little to our 2104 cap.

@Brendan @Alasdair Barratt Yep, just after the trade deadline next season I suppose.

Whenever it is the FO have shown us that we won't know anything about it until they announce it.

And that's a good thing....a very good thing.

@Alasdair Barratt I keep getting the feeling that this will drag into the 2014 season, we won't hear much about it except for the occasional scummy "Jets are mistreating Wilkerson!" article, and then sometime around Week 6 or 7 we'll all of a sudden hear reports that they've just signed him to an extension that kicks in in 2015.
