Of course Wes Welker gets suspended and the game he returns for is against the Jets in week 6

I have to say, I'd love to see GB top Seattle game 1 for 2 reasons. A. To shut Irvin up. B. It'll put them in a lull for our game.

Watching Jets pats from October 20th 2013.

If I wasn't ready before I sure am now.

Sorry Woody but Revis is a Jet!

I assume Idzik is already planning who he wants to sign coming off their rookie contracts. If he doesn't plan to re sign Ellis, perhaps they can find a team in a similar position expect with a CB. It would be a 1 year stop gap.

I would even trade a Coples if there is a team with a CB in a similar situation.

I can't wait to see how Marty uses all the new receivers, incl. CJ and Ivory...with tons of weapons it's EXCITING!

Is anyone here going to opening day? I'll be there what time do the players usually show up I would like to greet them before the game.

Would you rather have 2010 Holmes or 2014 Decker if you had to pick between the 2? Im picking Decker 10 times out of times. Love his toughness and size out there

They are so deep at WR it really shouldn't be an issue.

@MoSacks MoSnacks

He does have a point.  A Center that has never played with Rodgers will cause that O to not run that effeicient.

And We get to play against that same backup center in his second game ever.  We should win that TO battle.

@will898

I'm not trading Coples or Ellis for a CB.  I want to use our cap room to keep resigning all these DLs while they're all still young, productive, and healthy.

Build a CB, don't trade one of our studly DLs for one.

@kvast I believe it typically happens around 10:30 in the parking lot.

@gbrownn

Q: Would you rather have 2010 Holmes or 2014 Decker if you had to pick between the 2?

A: Whichever one isn't Mark Sanchez, that's what I'll take.

@gbrownn Decker, even without playing 1 game, he's a class act.  Our new attitude rules!

No brainer. Unless you like cancer.

@tsjc68 @will898 To me it depends on what the plan is for Ellis and Harrison. I like Ellis and if he keeps playing like he has (and stays healthy) he's probably going to command some money on the FA market. Are we really going to pay both him and Harrison? I would assume Harrison is close to a lock to be re-signed. If the team considers it unrealistic or not financially prudent to sign them both then a trade of Ellis might be just the thing to do and now is the time to do it. This wouldn't be a "panic" move...it's roster management. Just letting Ellis walk at the end of the year for a comp pick would be a pretty bad thing IMO.

@tsjc68 @will898 The CB situation will be fine with the "safety" net support.  No trades for a CB, we'll get one next year in the draft if there's a need.

Thanks @brendan been waiting for weeks now to find out when they arrive! Go jets!!!

Ok well what about 2013 Decker vs 2010 Holmes?

tsjc68

@jetsjerk @tsjc68 @will898

Yup.  Milliner-Walls-Wilson-Adams works for me.  DMZ is progressing into a legit shutdown CB#1, and the other three aren't special but are all good enough to fill their respective roles on the hierarchy.

And we'll have McDougle back full strength next year, hopefully.

Different players. I'll take Decker

@gbrownn I hate Holmes with a passion so I shall recuse myself.

@tsjc68 A 1st rd CB next draft seems like a decent bet at this time.

Predicting 1st round picks now is just plain dumb unless it is a QB.

@BDarc23 @tsjc68

I wouldn't have a problem with that.  But there's lots of ways we could go next year (a stud WR, an OT to groom behind Brick, a big guard, another edge rusher to complement Coples and replace Pace/Babin/Barnes, an ILB to replace Harris...

We don't have many super-pressing needs but have several areas to upgrade with more youth.

BDarc23
BDarc23

@tsjc68 @BDarc23 Out of all of the above I think the hardest positions to find impact players after rd 1 are CB and edge rusher.

@tsjc68  Holy crap balls its draft time already?

BDarc23
BDarc23

@Brendan @BDarc23 OL is always good too. I was looking yesterday and it seems like a good LT (ie Pace, Ogden, E. Williams) plays until 33 or 34 so Brick should be good for a couple of years still. Mangold has a long while probably if he is anything like Mawae.

tsjc68

@BDarc23 @tsjc68

I'd say the hardest positions to find impact players after round 1 are "everything but runningback".

bklyndude

@BDarc23 @tsjc68

The hardest position to find is a stud QB.  Hopefully Geno keeps trending in the right direction.

Finding an elite pass rusher is not easy

Thus far, I've only watched Mariota film, since walter football has us getting him, and we all know how accurate the are.

tsjc68
tsjc68

@BDarc23 @tsjc68

Well, I assume that since we're so close to contention, 2015 is the perfect time to trade down out of Round 1 to pick up a stud tight end and a second rounder we use to draft our super-stud kicker.

I'll get Oakland on the phone.

tsjc68
tsjc68

@NJJDB

I assume that Walter thinks we should draft Mariota at R1#1 and then double up with another QB at R2#33 just to be safe, because that's the only way to flush out the horrible, horrible stench of employing the awful, disgusting, vile curse upon humanity that is Michael Vick, QBDogKiller.

Such a rational and evenheaded guy that Walter is.

Brendan
Brendan

@BDarc23 The team might seriously consider Freeman the heir to Mangold's spot.

I think the team will be in a position where they can start stockpiling talent very soon, so if a stud OT falls into their laps, they'll grab one.

tsjc68
tsjc68

@BDarc23 @tsjc68 @Paul Samuels @Brendan

I'm not saying "we must draft an LT in Round 1 in 2015".

I am saying, though, that if a dynamite LT prospect falls into our laps next April/May, I'd take him, groom him for a year, and then cut Brick in 2016 right when his effectiveness will probably start slipping noticeably.

Nothing wrong with being one step ahead.  Let the talent of the draft board come to you.
