So are guys lined up at Radio City now or did they camp out?

CB round one, offense the next 3 picks, then oline, olb, RB and another CB to cap it off, Go Jets!

UncleJoesJetFarm

I think we could use a CB, HA?     The Jets allowed 3,947 passing yards in 2013, or 32% more than the average in Ryan’s first four seasons. The team gave up 55 completions of at least 20 yards, a 32% spike from the previous four-year average. The Jets’ 26 passing touchdowns allowed were 53% more than they had averaged from 2009-2012. Worst of all, they gave up 15 passes of at least 40 yards after giving up 22 in the previous four years.

Let's get it out of the way Gangrels, no matter who the pick is at #1 tonight for us, they will say we ploched!

Go CB in round one, wrs are real deep and historically it has been shown the CBs that make it in the NFL are overwhelmingly 1st rounders. The big day is here baby, I am piling on the sandbags in my war room!!!!!

#7: It seems like there's two ways to build a high caliber team: one is with a franchise QB, a Manning, Brady, Brees, etc. And the second is with a killer defensive line, Niners, Seahawks.

I think Houston would be making a HUGE mistake by passing on Clowney for Mack. Don't get me wrong, Mack's a great player but imagine a D-line that contains Watt and Clowney. Andrew Luck would have a brown stain on his pants and that wouldn't be from mud....

@WW85  Camping out would have happened last night; if you don't have your ticket/wristband by now, it's too late, you're not getting in.

What is a Mons Venus clause?

Wow yeah they really missed Revis.  Oh wait, they didn't have Revis in 2012 either.

What makes you think that Russel Wilson isn't a franchise QB? I think he is every bit a franchise QB, further more, I do not think u can win in the NFL w/out a franchise QB. Another issue for most of the bone heads on this site, what did Seattle just do ( home of the famous John Idzik, to be infamous in a few years) they just signed they're franchise CB to a record breaking deal, unlike us, we dump our franchise CB, Revis, then refuse to take him back. Just for the Brendan's of the world ( one breath, Idzik has turned the Jets into a fortress, no leaks) do u really believe the Jets would tell people, oh by the way, Revis wanted to come back, but our owner hates him, & will not/ would never pay him anyway. See the difference between a team committed to winning, & a team like us, based soley on a buiness model, that can't sell tickets/psl's. I was watching the NFL network last night, they have Manzel dropping to Dallas at 16...2 spots from us ( mayock) Think he would sell psl's

@Jeff E. Guy  I can't knock Houston for picking up some additional picks and still get Mack.

@a57se  Looking it up, apparently Mons Venus is the name of a strip club in Tampa.

Woody is all about selling PSLs but he can't sell them. Explain how that works? I worked for the Jets. Woody wants to win more than anything else.

Wilson is good but he is not in the same league as Peyton, Bree's, Brady etc. As for Revis vs Sherman, two very different situations. How many times has Sherman sat out? Exactly. Another difference is Revis needed to be paid before the Jets won anything. Now that Seattle has to start paying players let's see what happens.

@bobbyj

The success story is contained in what Seattle did to get themselves a Super Bowl.  We have no idea what consequences their current moves will bring.  Is it a good idea to give one player, a CB, $40 million guaranteed?  We have to wait and see.  Will Russel Wilson prove to be a franchise quarterback?  We'll see where he's at in five years.  It wouldn't surprise me if Seattle didn't even make the playoffs next year.  Things happen.

Let Revis go, man.  He's gone.

So Johnny FootBAWL can't go to strip clubs?

I've never heard of that being an issue with him.

@bobbyj  You clearly have done little research on either.

"Losing is no excuse," do you have business acumen or are you just speaking in generalities at this point?

bobbyj

He got beat on the West side, but losing is no excuse, losing to Dolan no less. Queens could've & should've happen

Brendan
Brendan

@bobbyj  You mean when he spent millions of his own money trying to generate support in a Queens stadium, only to have a local politician use him for votes and making empty promises?

Next you'll tell me Woody didn't really want to move into the West Side Stadium.

a57se
a57se

@bobbyj

A SB victory or two would go a long way in doing that.....being a perennial loser does not help.

bobbyj
bobbyj

He's in the wrong local. If he would have built in Queens, he'd being selling tickets. The Jets biggest fan base is on Long Island. You think he will ever fill up that stadium? Ever displace the Giants as the #1 team in that stadium? I dont

What did you do when you worked for the Jets?

@a57se @Bent @bobbyj  Bob Jensen's a TJB legend, he's posted here since the early days.  Probably one of our longest tenured commenters.

I'm talking about dudes who had killer seats & were forced out, seats that were handed down. It is truly sad

bobbyj

Why is Wilson not in there leagues? I think he was the MVP of the Super Bowl. I'm very impressed w/Wilson. I watched Luck stare down receivers & throw pics in the New England game. I know that Wilson had better pieces around him, but I am very impressed w/him & surprised more people don't see him in the same light as others. He's no Andy Dalton

@Bent @bobbyj

Mr. Jensen??? Are you really revealing someones' name on this Blog?

Bent

@a57se @bklyndude @bobbyj  Well, we have still got to use one of the picks from that trade, but you're right, none of this contract stuff matters right now.

Bent

@bobbyj

I have too much respect for you to "kill" you over anything, Mr. Jensen.  And I actually agree with you that Idzik and Tannenbaum are a lot more similar in their approach than people realize, certainly in terms of their early approach to taking over the job and putting the plan in place.

As for your other question, I predicted Manziel would go very early (like top three) a while back (based on nothing more than gut feel) and I'm sticking to that.  In the event he did last long enough to get within range for a trade-up, I don't really think the Jets would bite and I'm not even sure they'd pick him if he fell to 18.

In fact, some guys here wouldn't even pick him if he fell to 49.

Brendan
Brendan

@bobbyj  No one was forced to dump season tickets. The entire upper deck was PSL-free and reserved for past season ticket holders.

I'm not asking you to feel sorry for Woody, I'm asking you to stop being a brat and acting like he's a poor owner. He's a very good owner.

bobbyj
bobbyj

Ok used me...9$ a beer 7$ a hotdog, how much for PSL's? You know how many dudes I know who were forced to dump there season tickets based on the price? To you Brendan a FOOL & MONEY WILL SOON PART...I will never feel sorry for a billionaire who inherited everything he owns, NEVER...

bobbyj
bobbyj

You are right about the rookie deal, I was referring to the contract stuff that followed. I want to see Woody pay top dollar for a player, other than a QB, premiere money. I didn't have a massive problem w/his departure, but we should have brought him back, or at least attempted to contact him, Revis in New England will have consequences...ok Bent, now that I have you, Mayock says Manzeil goes 16 to Dallas, you think we move up & take him? Why don't people think Russel Wilson is a franchise QB? I think he is

Brendan
Brendan

@bobbyj  Lol. Jets fans who side with Revis over the team are the worst type of Jets fan.

THE GUY USED YOU, bobby. He used you, and me, and every other fan to get every last cent, and then when it became evident it wouldn't work with the new GM, he forced his way out and flipped the team the bird on the way out. HE NEGOTIATED A CONTRACT WITH TAMPA WHILE STILL ON THIS TEAM. Yeah, there's a guy to fight for.

bobbyj
bobbyj

Because he fought for it, that's why he got paid. I don't begrudge anyone who goes out & fights for his scratch. In fairness to Idzik, time will tell, he's on the clock, but I do agree w/Bent ( who is probably killing me over the Revis comments ) that I see very little difference between Idzik & Mr.T, they are both the same animal, now let's see if Idzik moves up to snatch a QB in this draft

tsjc68
tsjc68

@Bent @bklyndude @bobbyj  I like the juxtaposition of this "Woody is a skinflint, Revis was underpaid" Hot Sports Take against yesterday's "We should tier player salaries by position in a way that makes each player a permanent indentured servant to his team, eliminates holdouts and contract negotiations, and effectively reinstitutes the Reserve Clause" one from yesterday.

Good times.

Bent
Bent moderator

@bklyndude @bobbyj  That's soooo wrong bobby.  He got more than he should have in his rookie deal (so much so that the teams slotted around him were PISSED at Tannenbaum) AND that deal was frontloaded.  AND the Jets gave him a new deal before it was over.  AND the next deal was frontloaded too (the Jets ended up paying Revis $39m for 28 full games).  AND they got rid of him before that deal was up.

He got $25m in 2011 only to complain he was underpaid in 2012 and still some fans are suggesting the Jets didn't bend over far enough for him?  Unreal.

@bobbyj

Revis has not been nickled and dimed.

He has been been compensated as well as any professional athlete who doesn't impact a game with the ball in his hands.

I loved Revis,  but there comes a point when he's just not worth it financially.

bobbyj
bobbyj

Woody nickle & dimed Revis from the begining & yes Woody runs the Jets soley on the money they generate. That Woody runs the Jets strictly as a buiness has been well advertised. Any person who believes that it was fair to Rex, that over 20 teams contacted Revis, & we ( the perrinal losers in the AFC East ) didn't even call him, & then let him walk to the Pats ( perrinal winners of the AFC East ) was a good move is flat out retarded, It weakened us & strengthened them. I bring this up on a regular because it's Woody's method & it isn't only about Revis, it will impact future players/deals.

Brendan
Brendan

@bobbyj  It does if the Jets have their long-term answer in Geno.

bobbyj

Wether Russel Wilson is a Franchise QB or not has zip to do with the Jets ( not a poor reflection on the Jets ) nor his draft postion

You think he's gonna be the last to leave? Between Mo, QC & Sheldon, I get the feeling one of them will be heading to Revis Island

@bobbyj  When you interviewed Woody Johnson and he told you he runs the Jets based "monthly  on spread sheets"; what else did he say ?

Those Seahawks are really smart to get their franchise QB in the third round; do you think they took a chance letting 74 other players to be selected first ? That was great business on their part. They must have an awesome owner.

bobbyj
bobbyj

I really think Wilson is a franchise QB now. I didn't know how much the kid had until I listened to him speak. Wilson is extreamly well spoken & he projects tremendous leader ship skills. I also though the was the MVP of the Super Bowl. Linch barely ran for anything & Wilson converted a bunch of 3rd downs keeping drives alive. Woody runs the Jets based on monthly spread sheets, not like other billionaires, who are pleasure boating, out there to win titles
