After watching the interview with Marty Mornhiweg . Marty says two things you loo for in a receiver. 1) can he catch the ball and 2) does he have the skill to defeat the bump and run.

Kerley is a guy who comes to mind defeating the bump and run who really fits into Mornhiwegs scheam's on offense.

Javis Landry LSU 6'1" 195lbs is a stud. Check this out guys.I'm talking about bump and run.

I hope we are not looking at Jason Worilds.  He is Pace 2014, a solid player who will be overpaid.  Hopefully not by us.

Brendan
Brendan

@johnnyl65 Wouldn't this be bad for the Jets in regards to other teams entering bidding wars that wouldn't have been able to without the up-tick?

Maybe I'm looking into this too much.

Brendan
Brendan

@harold  And what if he's not overpaid?

He's a very solid player. If he doesn't get overpaid you lock him in at the SAM and call it a day.

@jake100  Ugh. Don't link to PFT, Joey. The only source is Manish, who we know has zero leaks in the Jets' FO anymore.

@Brendan

Well now we can just overpay Anquan Boldin by that much more. I mean, now we can pay player X that much more.

@Brendan @johnnyl65  Depends on the teams and what precedents they want to make setting individual position markets.many teams are up against the cap can now keep one player that might have been a cap casualty.  But I don;t see bidding wars bwxause of an extra 7m to the cap.

@Brendan @johnnyl65 i think it would actually help the Jets from an extending Wilk perspective

@Brendan @harold

He is likely to get Calvin Pace 2008 type money or very close.  If you think that is a good investment, good luck.

Give that to Sam Shields who has been a more productive player over  a longer period of time.

If his price drops to 5 million per season we can talk, but at the expected price tag of 7.5-8 million APY thanks but no thanks

@johnnyl65 Right, there's obviously dozens of factors that play into this that we could sit here all day going through, it's just something I thought of.

I agree it may make it harder to nab one of the F/A CB we may have to settle for 2nd Tier guy like Thurmond or Tarrell Brown.

Quality options but a notch below.

@Brendan @idothis2 I think Byrd is thrilled by this, but i think if Idzik has a must have FA targeted this could help him with more flexibility to sweeten an offer. hopefully idzik and his team are good pitch ppl regardless of how many buyers are at the market

Brendan
Brendan

@idothis2  If that's what they choose to use it for, you're right. I just meant that it'll increase the buyers in the market, which could be irritating.

Hill is one of the worst receivers in the NFL and his (lack of) production shows this clearly. He also isn't durable.

For the record - if the queen had ballss she'd be the F'in KING

@Bernard Mclaughlin @jake100@Bubby Brister

Hill has already had a better career than Gholston (which isn't saying much).

He has actually helped us win a few games with good performances or timely ones.

He has long way to go to be a high level player but he is already shown some glimpses.

If he can put it together and stay healthy for 16 games he should put up some decent numbers.

@jake100 @Bubby Brister how can you say that when we did so well drafting Vernon Ghoulston after his incredible physical performance at the combine.... oh never mind I forgot.

@jake100 @Bubby Brister

While that may be a little strong, I was excited about his potential (still am!).

So far, his potential energy hasn't turned kinetic...

I was on the move just got back in,

But I would certainly entertain a motivated Woodley.  A three year front loaded deal (mostly in salary very small signing bonus).  With little dead money in 2016 if we cut him.

Brendan
Brendan

@Bent I would love Woodley opposite Coples. I'd be willing to give him something approaching $7m in year 1 that gradually does down, maybe a 3-year deal?

I've always been a fan of Woodley's game and with him, Coples and Barnes would be pretty terrorizing.

@Brendan @harold  I hear the Steelers are weighing up keeping Worilds and then making Woodley a post-June cut.  Worilds has said he will only stay if he starts and they save $8m if they cut Woodley and treat it as a post June cut.

My question becomes - would you be more or less interested in Woodley and what price point would you put on him?

Brendan
Brendan

@harold I didn't realize he's trying to out-do Paul Kruger.

Have fun with that pipe dream, Jason.

I agree with you, I was thinking $5 million for him, nothing more.

Again some guys take time.  He may never be a star but he may develop into a big play threat with his speed and size.

He has made some plays and even back to college he did make some plays going up and getting the football.

Some guys are a little overwhelmed and it takes time.  Give him some time he still only has around 24 real games played.  I know we want instant success, but that is not how it works.

Vlad was considered the worst player ever but he really is an average NFL Guard.

But when your expectations are so large you sometimes miss the subtle improvements.

Let's give him an opportunity this off season, pre-season and regular to show he is a viable player and then make a judgment.

Hill has no value on special teams and he's had terrible production as a wide receiver. He is not durable either. I got no issues keeping him on the team as the 5th receiver but the truth is that a bird needs to leave the nest at some point and prove to its mama that it can fly.

This is Hill's 3rd season. It is time to leave the nest for Stephen Hill. If a starting receiver for the Jets gets injured and Stephen Hill has to step in it would be nice to feel comfortable that he could contribute. I really don't care about how fast a guy is at the combine or how tall he is if it doesn't translate on to the football field

Brendan
Brendan

@bradysucks  He shouldn't be a starter, but he should still be on the team.

Hill should not be a starter for the Jets....I am so happy that at least Idzik and Morninweg realize this even if the fans don't....

See Jason Worilds,

That why I am skeptical of him as well. The only difference is he is 25 and will be 26 when season starts so maybe slightly more potential, but still don't see anywhere close to 8 million per season.

Brendan
Brendan

@jake100 Yup, he has to show something this year. I'm still holding out hope for him, he has so much talent.

Brendan
Brendan

@jake100 Only because he has no choice. He would look extremely foolish at this stage making up a story when everyone knows Idzik gives him diddly.

I don't doubt that the front office is concerned with Hill and his place with the team, but I don't think they're close to cutting a 22 year old who has had Poops Sanchez and Rookie Geno throwing to him. It'd make no sense to get rid of him at this point.
