Haha...not the Eagles supposedly want a third rounder for Mathis!

would you guys lose your mines if jets draft free saftey Calvin Pryor with the 18th pick?

Belichick and 6 other patriots staff members worked out kelvin Benjamin last Friday!

Think they had some interest?

Anthony Barr, Darqueze, and ODB are all available at 18. Who do we take?

@a57se  would you give the eagles a 3rd rd pick for him & jackson?

Bent

@a57se  He's arguably an elite player.  I'm not surprised that's their initial asking price.

@Hoz

I would not be a happy camper taking Pryor at 18 unless our current Safety group had gotten into a severe Auto accident or something.

nesboogie

@Hoz  Nope, I think he'll be a star in the league.

@a57se  Wouldn't be surprised if Brady was throwing passes to him.

@nesboogie

We would go Dennard as we could still grab Moncrief or Mathews in round 2. I don't think OLB will be drafted in first 3 rounds

@nesboogie

That is a tough choice........I would think it would depend on what else we do between now and the Draft.

@funkymonk

Maybe Idzik will, I don't think Tanny ever did....

@Hoz @a57se

I wouldn't give the Iggles a third for their whole frickin' team....:)

@Bent @a57se

You don't find it a bit ironic that that is the same thing they originally said about jackson?

@Bent Arguably? The only argument against it being age, I presume?

@a57se @Hoz  I agree I think pryor & antonio allen would make quite the duo.

@a57se @Hoz  Man does that comment sound bad without context.

I know what you meant, but I'd reword that if I were you!

@Bent I don't think it's a smokescreen. He compliments the receivers they alreay have. He's a big guy and they are obviously trying to make one more run with Brady. A big fast guy like Kelvin fits their needs IMO

@a57se @nesboogie and what we do draft day  maybe a trade  idzik like to mix veterans with rookies

@a57se Right, Tanny had more important things to spend his 6th round picks on, like Tim Tebow.

I don't know if a punter is a better use of that pick than, say, a lottery ticket WR/RB/TE, but probably has a higher chance of resulting in a player who makes the roster. Obviously the upside for the lottery ticket is much higher.

@a57se @Hoz  Well maaaaaybe that young fella they have runnin' the ball.

@Disgruntled Jets Fan @Bent @a57se  Tried to see if anyone had figured this out. Apparently the Jets hold the record for most 1st round picks in a single draft, from 2000: Shaun Ellis (12th overall), John Abraham (13th overall), Chad Pennington(18th overall), and Anthony Becht (27th overall). Don't know about other rounds, or about most draft picks in general.

@Marcus Armstrong @Bent @a57se  Gregg Easterbrook is obsessed with this idea too.

I don't think the Eagles have 31 players that are worth a third rounder.  In fact, they might only have a handful if Mathis and Jackson are below that.  McCoy, certainly, and some of their recent high picks, obviously.

a57se
a57se

@Bent @a57se

That's what I was thinking!!! GREAT MINDS think alike!!

@a57se @Bent

Maybe they want to trade 31 players for a third rounder each and monopolize the entire round!

Brendan

@Bent Well, Mathis does have the benefit of Peters being on his left and McCoy in the back, but when I've focused on him during my Eagles game watching, he's always impressed me. It obviously helps that Shady is seemingly on the LB's in .02 seconds.

@Brendan @Bent  He grades out really well, but the fact he originally signed for 5m per year two years ago suggests he wasn't viewed around the league as elite.  Therefore, having not watched enough footage to form a proper view on him, it could be one of those situations where he benefits from easier assignments than some other interior linemen.  I don't know for sure though, hence: arguably.

For me, Brandon Moore fell into that same category, only he's a guy I had watched the film on so I could say that with more certainty.  Elite grades doesn't necessarily make you better than everyone who graded out worse than you.

Hoz

@twin @a57se @Bent  we know they love there TE I wouldn't be surprise if they try to trade up for Ebron.

@twin I think a pass catchers for Brady are a going to be a priority

They did pretty well replacing Wilfork last year......he is on the decline anyway.

@twin @a57se@Bent

I think WR is a pretty big need for them after watching their offense last year.

@a57se Normally I'd say spending any draft pick on a punter/kicker is a waste of a pick, but with 4 6ths (3 at the end of the round) I wouldn't be opposed. We'll still have 3 lottery tickets to cash in.

Yeah well, ummm, errrr, Mike Nugent with a 2nd.

@a57se @funkymonk  I think drafting a punter is akin to a sacrifice bunt.  Worth doing, but only if you're going to get some hits with your other at-bats.

a57se
a57se

@funkymonk @a57se

Tanny traded up so often that we didn't have a full slate of picks so he was trying to hit Home Runs on every pick he did have........Punters are never considered Home Runs.
